BURIEN, Wash. -- Controversy is surrounding a new sculpture at the Burien/Interim Arts Space.

The bronzed piece is of a squatting, nude woman, and it leaves little to the imagination, according to concerned parents.

Oh oh. I looked at the photo. Am I gonna die, or does nudity only fatally infect minors?

Wow, the sarcastic things I could say... Let's see here:

* Oh gawd, it's a human body without clothes

* They forgot a frontal shot

And more.. but they're a lot more crude, so I'll leave it at this: This is a gorgeous piece of artwork and anybody who is offended by this masterful piece needs to get a royal grip on things.

"Concerned parents".

Translation: They're uncomfortable with sexuality but can't admit it, so they're using the old lines about protecting the children and being "concerned".

Further translated to mean: "I'm so jealous. How come everyone is getting laid except me?"

"My 8 year old doesn't need to be exposed to it. I don't even want my 14-year-old son to be exposed to it."

Hope that 14 year old doesn't have internet access!

a) First Amendment;

b) There's nothing new about nudity;

c) That sculpture is hardly pushing 'the envelope'.

Nothing appealing about that sculpture, naked or not. In fact some of the other "art" they have is ugly and nothing more then expressions of dark minds.

nudity is not crude. maybe the nude male body in a state of excitement might be crude, but nudity by itself is not crude.

i hope nothing happens to this sculpture. obviously it was not meant to be pornographic. its an older lady for crists sake.

IT IS ART.
