Governments embrace spending, especially where it makes them look and feel virtuous. Politicians love to look in the mirror and admire what they see. When it comes to border security they may talk a good game but very few government officials in this day and age don't really want to turn back refugees that appear desperate. While many citizens would like this done, this would not please the politically correct chattering classes.
If governments like spending so much then they wouldn't be making efforts to mitigate warming....The cost of doing nothing far outweighs the price we will have to pay if nothing is done...Take the recent flooding in Louisiana for example....

FEMA says 109,398 people or households have applied for housing help, and 25,000 National Flood Insurance Program claims have been filed. The American Red Cross called it the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey in 2012. How many houses, people flooded in Louisiana? | NOLA.com

This has more the appearance of religion rather than science. Most of these scientific papers are written in precatory language such is "if CO2 causes warming", then certain things "may" happen.
There is no longer any "if". Warming is here and observable around the globe, The ice is melting, seas are rising and warming, species are migrating north, and global precipitation is increasing. https://www.ec.gc.ca/sc-cs/0EC06FB9-...r_Marjorie.jpg

Indeed, can anyone show actual temperature records of any one place showing consistent, alarming warming? All of the temperature figures bandied about are "global" or ""world" figures. Surely some statistics within those must show alarming spikes in temperature if we are boiling or drowning to death.
During June 2016, record heat appeared in Arizona, southern Nevada, and southern California. Burbank, California reached 111°F, Phoenix, Arizona reached 118°F, Yuma, Arizona reached 120°F and Tucson, Arizona reached 115°F, its warmest temperature in more than 20 years, on June 19. Riverside, California reached 114°F, Palm Springs, California reached 122°F, Las Vegas, Nevada reached 115°F, Death Valley reached 126°F, Needles, California tied its all-time record high of 125°F while Blythe, California set a new all-time record high of 124°F on June 20.
In July 2016, Mitribah, Kuwait reached 129.2°F (54°C) and Basra, Iraq reached 129°F (53.9°C). These are the highest temperatures ever recorded in the Eastern Hemisphere and on planet Earth outside of Death Valley. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heat_waves

Actually the climate change deniers are the cultists....Just like all cults they believe in things that are untrue or cannot be proven....They ever have their prophets like Watts, Bastardi, etc. Those promoting denial even use tactics to give the appearance of a scientific controversy where there is none, just like all cults.

On the other hand those that support the science rely on facts and evidence.

You do realize this planet is still correcting itself, from the Ice Age.

We have yet to get to normal.

Not true....The earth had been cooling for the past 7,000 years, then began heating rapidly at the beginning of the industrial age... http://addins.waow.com/blogs/weather...temp-graph.gif

No, we left normal behind 100 years ago when CO2 was 280 ppm. That was the natural level of CO2 for hundreds of thousands of years. Now, in the last 100 years, we have burned oil, gas and coal at an accelerated rate, dumping billions of tons of CO2 in the air. We now stand at over 400 ppm. Never before in the history of the Earth has CO2 spiked so fast in only 100 years. And it is all due to human burning. The climate is changing rapidly as the extra heat builds. In 5 to 10 years climate change will be so obvious that climate deniers will be a small minority, just like the flat earthers.

That is very likely not true. Your point is valid, no need to exaggerate.

What physical phenomenon is correcting itself, was there a drastic change in the earths orbit in the last 100 years?

Not much of an exaggeration I'd say..

Humans are releasing planet-warming carbon dioxide at about 10 times faster than the most rapid event of anytime in at least the past 66 million years. This leaves us without a historical analogue to guide predictions for how climate change will affect the world in coming years, a new study has found.

There is no "normal." The cycles have gone on forever and will go on forever. Unless you're a creationist and believes that G-d has foreordained an Edenic "normal" and by industrially developing we're eating the poisonous fruit.

Doesn't that sound like religion?
