I agree the practice is "podunk." To answer your question as to whether the raids are "common" - they happen; they don't happen in every bar on a nightly basis, a monthly basis, or even on a yearly basis, but it's not the rarest thing either.
The skull fractures almost never happen; this is the first time I've ever heard of that degree of force being used during a raid.
No apology needed no offense taken. I am not gay . We all are peopel gay or not gay
Glad to hear you say that. Thank you. I don't know your age, but I've noticed that younger guys are a lot less likely to be offended if someone thinks they're gay than older guys.

Wow, you and I really do think alike. I had the exact same thought at the exact same time, but I didn't want to come across as a Texas-basher (I've criticized Texas enough).
I actually love the Hill Country. It's beautiful, and Austin is a fun city.
That is not the only criteria. If they were not complying with police, making provocative comments and just being general A-holes - yeah, they ARE going to be arrested, regardless of their sexual orientation.
When has it been against the law to make sexual (provocative) comments to law enforcement?
How about the straight bar where they arrested 9 people. were the harassing them or enforcing the PI laws
Both. The police were enforcing an outrageous (just in regard to a bar being a "public place", I have nothing against a law outlawing being drunk in an actual public place) public intoxication law whose manner of enforcement is even more outrageous and by its nature harassing and abusive (to all, not just the gays).
