I agree the practice is "podunk." To answer your question as to whether the raids are "common" - they happen; they don't happen in every bar on a nightly basis, a monthly basis, or even on a yearly basis, but it's not the rarest thing either.

The skull fractures almost never happen; this is the first time I've ever heard of that degree of force being used during a raid.

I understand that, but wjtwet was trying to deny that the skull injury even happened.

Do you think the cops involved in this story were purposefully harassing the people in Rainbow Lounge?

Oh, without a DOUBT.

Glad to hear you say that. Thank you. I don't know your age, but I've noticed that younger guys are a lot less likely to be offended if someone thinks they're gay than older guys.

I actually love the Hill Country. It's beautiful, and Austin is a fun city.

When has it been against the law to make sexual (provocative) comments to law enforcement?

Both. The police were enforcing an outrageous (just in regard to a bar being a "public place", I have nothing against a law outlawing being drunk in an actual public place) public intoxication law whose manner of enforcement is even more outrageous and by its nature harassing and abusive (to all, not just the gays).
