Honduras Supreme Court Judge Defends President Ouster (Update1) - Bloomberg.com
Quote:
July 1 (Bloomberg) -- Honduras’s military acted under judicial orders in deposing President Manuel Zelaya, Supreme Court Justice Rosalinda Cruz said, rejecting the view of President Barack Obama and other leaders that he was toppled in a coup.
“The only thing the armed forces did was carry out an arrest order,” Cruz, 55, said in a telephone interview from the capital, Tegucigalpa. “There’s no doubt he was preparing his own coup by conspiring to shut down the congress and courts.”
She compared Zelaya’s tactics, including his dismissal of the armed forces chief for obeying a court order to impound ballots to be used in the vote, with those of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
“Some say it was not Zelaya but Chavez governing,” she said.
The arrest order she cited, approved unanimously by the court’s 15 justices, was released this afternoon along with documents pertaining to a secret investigation that went on for weeks under the high court’s supervision.
“But as a sovereign and independent nation, we have the right to freely decide to remove a president who was violating our laws,” she said. “Unfortunately our voice hasn’t been heard.”

It is truly amazing the rush by the Us and other countries to side with chavez, ortega and the castro twins.
Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion: Hands Off Honduras
Quote:
The Obama administration's actions towards Honduras continue to defy logic. On the one hand, Obama states that he is for the rule of law. Yet Obama meddles in the worst possible way in Hondurans' attempt to protect their country from a Chavez-style tyranny.
While Obama improves relations with Venezuela, Obama has cut military ties to Honduras, is considering a cut-off of all aid, is doing nothing to stop loan suspensions by international organizations over which the U.S. has substantial influence, and is supporting international efforts to isolate Honduras.
Poor and tiny Honduras faces the full wrath of the United States, United Nations, and much of the rest of the world, while nothing is done about Iran. On Iran, Obama and the world acted with the utmost deference, and there were no efforts by the Obama administration at international action. None.
But Honduras, enforcing its own laws against a renegade wannabe President-for-life, for some reason warrants the full force of the United States government and international community. Honduras gets condemnation from Obama, while Chavez gets hugs and Ahmadinejad gets deference. Wonderful. No, horrible.

Up is down - this is truly the twilight zone.
Is this not the most dangerous man in the world - obama that is.

So...I take it you have not looked yourself, Mr Poly-sci degree?
For shame.

If you understood that little passage, you'd know that Zalaya is the legitimate president and Micheletti is an illegitimate president. Did you understand the passage? Do you know how to read? Do you understand English? Did you chew lead based paint chips when you were a kid and totally screw up your ability to think rationally? Really, I don't know what the hell your problem is, but it sure is a serious one from what I can see. You really have no ability to reason.

He's only been the pres. a few days. I don't know how you guys can defend having an unelected president when you go on about the Honduran constitution. Does it not call for an elected president?

The congress has the power to impeach the president, which is what they did.

And then they decided not to follow through?
Impeachment is charging the President with a crime or misconduct.
Then you go to the second stage, putting the President on trial.
So, they voted to impeach him, an act within their Constitution, but someone says, oh, hell, let's not go through the trouble of a trial, we'll just snatch him in the middle of the night at gunpoint and smuggle him out of the country. Then we'll put our own government together, and tell the world it wasn't a coup!
