17th street said it very well, this should be a thread about someone being harrassed by a group of idiots. but from there you get nasty comments about eating chicken, a crime count on black rape and how white hetro families are a very samll minority on the earth. pretty sad that is what comes to mind instead of seeing the wrong of someone being treated this way.

There are two points in this thread.

The first is what this thread is obstensibly about -- a gang of azholes harrassing two guys walking down the street. I feel for the guys - that must have been intimidating as hell, and what a horrible way to end a gay pride event.
The little jerkoffs who were yelling - well, if they are immigrants then it needs to be explained to them that the price of living in the US is to be civil. If they cannot manage that because of cultural or religious mores then they should be deported. God knows we have enough homegrown nutjobs why should we import anymore?
If they weren't immigrants then sadly we are stuck with them. Perhaps some very large gay guys will show them what happens when one is a bully. Ah, put those little pr*cks would never have done that to a few very muscular gay men.

The second unintended (possibly) part of this thread is the racism. Fried chicken? Really? There are some people on this thread who are just as bit as obnoxious, stupid and moronic as those boys on the video. Really, grow up or get out of the country. We are teeming with azzholes as it is.

Stop pigeonholing a large group of people's beliefs. Not all Muslims think being gay is even wrong, let alone deserving of death.

What a shame. This thread has devolved away from what could be a very interesting and SERIOUS discussion amongst GROWN UPS about the tenuous state of multiculturalism and immigration patterns.


It's a paradox because many people who consider themselves "liberal" in one instance (pluralism, diversity of all kinds, equal rights for everyone) are often forced to accept an influx of immigrants who come from conservative backgrounds because to resist an influx of populations from conservative, backwoods countries would be "racist."

Some scholars have suggested that instead of blanket acceptance of multicultural ideas, we should reject multicultural ideas that in and of themselves are conservative and restrictive of freedom expansion. Not every culture is equal. Not every idea should be embraced simply because it is held by a "person of color," or "immigrant." Indeed, the US should start looking at how Europe is trying to fight back against a change in its cultural values due to immigration.

Ignorant Somali Muslims are about on par with our own homegrown ignorant Southern Baptists or Mormons when it comes to issues of "accepting different peoples." We don't need anymore. Slows the natural "dying off" pattern.
