I think there are more who cannot afford it, than there are deadbeats.
I would guess that for every deadbeat, there are 75,000 more who just can't afford it.

For the Fed to come in and fine folks who already cannot afford it sort of defeats the purpose altogether.

Actually I was in an accident and the bill was 410k. I worked out a payment plan with the hospital thank you. Now instead of cable, I pay my medical bill. So how is that not paying my own way? Because I do not have medical insurance? Thanks, I will keep my money for when I need it. And I will pay my bills as I have to.

Stop being dead beats wingnuts!
Smells like illegal immigrants to me. Free hospital, free clinics, etc and Arizona or California pays the bills. Or should I say taxpayers, legal people who work for a living.

No you are not anywhere near paying 410K bill back by forgoing your cable bill...LOL....The hospital got taken and you are paying back a small fraction of their costs.

Just at 3% interest (enough to keep up with inflation) you'd be forking over $1000 per Month. That's not even paying down the principal...LOL

Cable bill my ass!

I wonder when people will realize that it's not a left or right issue anymore.

The difference is that cars are optional for living. In this case, if you are alive you will be fined if you don't sign up for insurance. This is the wrong way, because the bureaucracy to do this will be crazy (fine people, chase after them, take legal action, etc...). They might as well just take it out of the paycheck like other taxes.

The problem I have with the $1000 fine is this... $1000 and you get no health care after paying the fine.... but if the companies pay a LESSER fine of $750, that person gets health care? Why would a company pay a lesser fine and and the person wins out? Say to another individual, you pay a higher fine and get nothing at the same time... I don't understand what logic the government is operating on.... its bizarre...
