Dr. Marc Faber, the investment guru, concluded his monthly bulletin (Jan 2009)

"The federal government is sending each of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money goes to China . If we spend it on gasoline it goes to the Arabs. If we buy a computer, it will go to India . If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala . If we purchase a good car, it will go to Germany and Japan . If we purchase useless crap, it will go to Taiwan . In short, none of it will help the American economy.
The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in the US .

I've been doing my part....

One of the problems is that this country's finance sector got so bloated it drained a lot of talent that probably would have gone to other industry's and made them less terrible.

That's not necessarily so. There are still plenty of products made in the USA out there, even at Walmart. You just have to look at the packaging and be selective.

During such a time as this, when millions of our fellow citizens have lost their jobs, I think it's our patriotic DUTY to buy only American made products when we can AND to let the retailers and manufacturers know WHY we're not buying their stuff made overseas.

Just because they offer Chinese or other foreign made stuff for sale does not mean we have to buy it and, when they hear from enough of us about it, they'll change the way they do business.

Some say we should let the market decide. Well, guess what? We ARE the market!
