Seriously, why are so many openly judging others? When you see someone do you automatically judge without question?

I personally beleive that it should not matter what another person is doing as long as it is not hurting or interfering in your life. Since we have to option to walk away, we should never judge.

Do you think you have the right to judge others? Why?

Why do you feel the need to control others lives and actions?

What makes you a better person then them?

I say when you feel like judging...pull out a mirror and start there...when you start to feel that you are perfect...find a new mirror.
I personally do not think anyone has a right to judge anyone. I believe that everyone has done at least one thing in their life they are not proud of, and would not want people to judge them based on that. Because of this I do not think for example: the "Jones' have a right to judge the Smith's because the Smith's worked a part-time job on the books and then another part-time job off the books to make ends meat. When the Jones' got charged the year before for tax fraud.

Both are wrong, and should not have been done. One may not think the other is as serious. So they start Judging.

I think people Judge others to justify their own shortcomings. Its like the Smith's saying "At least WE did not get charged with tax fraud" No one is perfect, no one is above the law or right about everything. I think it just makes people feel better to belittle others to make them feel better about themselves. To me personally, Judging is nothing more than gossip.

lets see:

Homosexuality
Religion(if kept to ones self)
marijuana
most other non manufactured drugs
Alcohal(if used responsibly)
Abortion(Fetus is not a human yet)
Extreme sports
Atheism
tattoos
pornography
education

these are a few subjects that people often times try to control there are many others...just look at the great debate section of this forum.

Plus, these are not necesaraly things that people are prevented from doing but some would like to prevent others from doing....great example of seeking ultamite control...read the book of mormon and research the religion...Talk about control.

I have first hand experiance as an ex member...thankfully they finally excommunicated me for speaking out against them to missionaries...I stopped 2 missionaries from doing what they were doing...I brought them to the "darkside"...we have cookies. All I did was show them how other people live. They asked if i had time to speak with them and I told them only if they allowed me to speak to them as well...So I listened...Remember I was already a member of their church, but they did not know this at the time. After they did their thing....I brought them to my neighbors house...Donnie and johnny(not fictisious names) they looked like any other set of roommates on the surface...i asked them not to speak of their lifestyle, which was of the homosexual nature. The missionaries met Donnie and Johnny and thought that they where a nice couple. We talked for hours, had dinner and even let the missionaries read from the book of mormon...at the end of the night I informed them that these two men where actually homosexuals. They could not beleive it, and began speaking poorly of them and their ways. I asked them what had changed their minds on these two men whom they thought where great people. They said that God did not approve of such things and they could not either. I asked them why and all they had to say was that God commanded it. at the end of the night I asked them to come back the next day to continue out discussion. To my suprise they did...in steet clothes. they wanted to know more and why I did what I did. I told them that they where blind to reality...someone had sugar coated life for them through a book. i told them that there was nothing wrong with believing in it, but you should know all sides to a story before casting judgment. To this day I still talk to these two gentleman, one of them is now married and lives a few miles from me. We regularly go out and grab a drink or other things. I am showing him how the world really is and that no book can teach you that.

I did nothing wrong...I mearly helped them open their eyes to the world. And that pre judgement cannot be justified. Also, seeking control over another is wrong.

I don't know where you live but in my neck of the woods no one gives a rats patooty about any of those things (except perhaps abortion).

Those are common issues in America in General. If you think that they are not a big issue...then I suggest you step out of your box and listen up. Read a paper, news magazine, watch the news...heck just check out the great debate section.

Looky here my friend, I live in the NY metropolitan area, and those things simply aren't a big deal. I suggest you step out of your little neighborhood and see the world. Because some jerkwater news paper or dopy little news station which runs more farm reports than anything else has issues with these things, doesn't mean they are big issues nationwide.

You are judging others right now by saying the don't have a right to.

Really? you are like the third person to say this and none of them can explain how. Can you?

Sorry I am not judging I am asking a question. Judgments are blatant statements while I am asking a question. See the difference.

Do you think it is right to control someones action or lifestyle?

You can judge anyone for anything, it's a personal opinion based on positive and negative feelings about their actions, but doing something about that judgment is something else entirely. People can be hypocritical if they want, though to me it's stupid to judge some one positively on one thing they like when the person has done a great number of terrible things. Honestly I don't even want to care, the last thing I want to do is control another persons life in a way they don't want...I have enough trouble just managing myself and my crazy family interactions.

New york doesnt care about anything but new york. It is its own little country. What happens in New York stays in new york. except when something big happens. Actually the east coast is like that all over until you get to Florida. But living on the east coast...people want to be free to do things that older generations do not approve of. Just as it was in the past every generation seeks to control the ones after it. The new generations alwasy have a new way of doing things or different lifestyles. When society realizes this it will open doors for great change. But society is closed mined to anything new.

The east coast is not a bad place, but for me being from the west coast is was like a different country. I like the people from there as long as they dont come here and try to change things..which is whats happening.
