This has been a very controversial issue here in Boulder County Colorado. Many thoughtful "liberals" (for lack of a better word) are uncomfortable with his plagarism, his lack of qualifications to be a dept. head, and so on.
Yes, he called attention to himself with that "essay". But that is how life is.

If Churchill had been rehired, just his walking around the campus shows that CU looks the other way to academic misconduct. It would also look like CU is establishing standards of academic excellence but not being able to implement them.
If you think Churchill got the trap door pulled on him, how would you like to be his attorney, David Lane? Lane takes only civil rights cases. And his fees are paid only if he wins the case. He has stated that the firm has spent $1.2 million dollars on this. Hmm.
