There is no such thing as a free lunch, and there is no such thing as a free war. The Iraq adventure has seriously weakened the U.S. economy, whose woes now go far beyond loose mortgage lending. You can't spend $3 trillion -- yes, $3 trillion -- on a failed war abroad and not feel the pain at home.

It's a good thing she wrote a book and made money of this hyperbolic claim... Tons and tons of credibility in someone writing a book about the cost of a war for their own monetary agenda.

I don't understand America sometimes... if China attacked America because it believed some American lies... whose fault is it?

We attacked Iraq... We were the aggressors... and then we made an excuse after we found out that it was a bunch of Iraqi lies about having WMDs... now its because Saddam is a "cruel" person...

Wow... a cruel person? You don't say... okay well then, I guess we better start attacking the entire world based on that "excuse" to attack another country... did the UN put sanctions on us? Did the world outright stop international relations with us?

Nope... it was obviously the American government's fault... and we are building a base over there... amazing... your welcome, Iraq! We are such great people... We know all, do all and if you don't agree we bomb all too...

What I don't get . . . why did we pour all that money into Iraq when Iraq had $$$ in its own coffers? And why don't we now have control over at least some of the oilfields/refineries/pipelines after spending billions of $$$? The whole damn war has been an exercise in futility. Viet Nam II, except, thank God, we haven't had as many of our troops killed/wounded (however, as far as I am concerned - losing ONE was too many). The Iraqis don't appreciate our being there and I can't see one positive thing coming out of this whole mess. And we are stuck w/ a huge bill. Just nuts.

Here's an article that is a bit infuriating...

Thank the liberals for voting to send out kids to war.

In fact dems minority leader Tom Dashcle had this to say.

Daschle, D-South Dakota, said the threat of Iraq's weapons programs "may not be imminent. But it is real. It is growing. And it cannot be ignored." However, he urged Bush to move "in a way that avoids making a dangerous situation even worse."

Thanks dems.

It's amazing how you place your party above it all. What was the vote count for giving that power to the president?

I'll save you the trip to google... 77-23... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-...o_b_85652.html

Now what? You sent them there and you wanted to run in the middle of it. That's pretty much the definition of coward.

Any lying SOB should be held accountable. Republican or Democrat. Bush was POTUS and Cheney and Rumsfeld were pulling the strings. They had the last word and they are the ones that need to answer for war crimes first.
