Why not provide something insightful instead of regurgitated rhetoric. Or do you not have a clue about the Cold War either and just wanted to bloviate too?

Those of you who want Obama to proclaim that we won the cold war, what is the point?

What good do you hope to get from it?

Will our ties with Russia be stronger as a result?

Will they be cowed and submissive?

Or will it simply soothe fragile reagan-loving ego's?

The only people in the world who believe that Ronald Reagan was responsible for the breakup of the Soviet Union are American right-wingers. The only people in the world who believe that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the breakup of the Soviet Union are Muslim right-wingers. Their capacities for self-delusion may not be the only thing these two groups share...

This is one of the cool perks of being a lefty.
You get a framework of thought that allows you to 'understand'
complex ideas or situations that you know absolutely nothing about.
The wisdom ignorance.

The correct answer is the West won the Cold War. However, Obama's response is appropriate for the current situation. After all, why agitate an ally who, for example, has entered...
Oh, yes, why do that indeed;

Obama makes pointed quip on Russian sale of Alaska | Politics | Reuters

Quote:
Referring to the long history of Russia-U.S. trade stretching back more than two centuries, Obama told an audience of business people in Moscow:

"Along the way, you gave us a pretty good deal on Alaska. Thank you."

Czar Alexander II's sale of Alaska to the United States in 1867 for $7.2 million in gold, around 1.9 cents per acre, was regarded by Russians as a national disgrace -- particularly once it became clear that the province was rich in oil.

The collapse of the USSR, however, was based on its own flawed practices. and the anger of its people That is what Obama is saying. The United States did not liberate the then-Soviet people.
Is that what they teach now in liberal indoctrination studies?
