It's not always the main breadwinner of the family who is unemployed. Two income couples and others might be living off just one income. Maybe sold the house and rented a cheap apartment. Who knows.

Well now did you all know that people on extended benefits are not counted with the unemployment figures ? They have their own table and their own figures.

As of 6/20 the total is 2.5 million people, up 81K receiving the extended unemployment benefits.
That puts the total at over 9 million people on unemployment.

Market Observation - Mike Shedlock 07.09.2009

Here's the link's closing paragraph:
"Look at the average age of baggers in grocery stores or greeters at Wal-Mart. These people are not working because they want to; they are working because they have to. Demand for jobs is at an all time high while the number of available jobs and the pay scales of those jobs have both collapsed. The employment situation is not only an unmitigated disaster, things are about to get even worse with pending state cutbacks."

Well they are not lying; they are just not giving us ALL the data.
All the data puts us in a bad place..worse than any recession we've had to date since the Great Depression.

In that link I provided the author actually recalculated the figures taking into account population change and shows that on a chart to equate it to the recession of the 80's.

They may be invisible for now - but I wouldn't count on them remaining so for very long.
You are right on target.

No we see that happening nowadays, entire neighborhoods unsafe and groups of thugs attacking others...

The difference between now and back then is we are an incredibly immoral society where stealing and robbing others is okay if it gets YOU something.

Prepare or not,it matters little to me.

It is your life.

While that is still 200 too many, still I wonder: where are 30+ million unemployed keeping a roof over their heads? with divorce and singlehood at all-time highs (no companion to fall back on for financial support); no parents or siblings to live with, as a large % are 40-50's, grew up in one-child families, and their parents have passed on. I mean, if unemployment is as bad as the MSM is making it out to be wouldn't we see tent cities and streets filled with thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, not just a few hundred??
It's all a lie.. a vast right wing conspiracy probably initially developed by Sarah Palin....maybe we should send a search party out to look for them..or better yet, let's give ACORN another 100 gazillion dollars and they will find them..for sure. After all if they could get Mickey Mouse and Pluto to the voting polls, and raise the dead, they can do anything.
