Because he's an irrational idealogue. Tune-in, drop-out and kill your parents.

Its only logical to "get it".
Interesting, but not the subject of this thread.

And I would agree with Curmudgeon, the level of scrutiny that exists now over say, the level from 20 or 30 years ago is much higher (which is fantastic).
I agree. It's an awesome thing to be able to scrutinize politicians every step of the way. It seem's we're finding more and more that such scrutiny actually makes a difference (althought that's hard to quantify).

If historical perspective is not the subject, why do I see a mention of Truman? He too was included in my previous post.

May be you should explain why we can't use approval ratings of previous presidents for baseline (even though you used it yourself).

I think you can view it from "what seemed okay x years ago seems dumb now" and from the perspective of what would and wouldn't fly. Some of these are good things and some are bad things.

As an example Kennedy was a walking sex scandal but it didn't really effect his ability to do anything, whereas Clinton was impeached.

Something like Vietnam really wouldn't happen in this day and age and even if it did it would screw the party over hard. The Iraq war was the first time there were protests before we attacked a country, that was unimaginable 30 years ago.

I'm not sure if this is a reflection of our culture, the media, or both; but there is definitely progress there.

Because he does not put this Country before advancing his ideology. He is not a patriot by any stretch of the imagination. How often does he end a speech by saying "God Bless America" although he said it often enough when he was campaigning. His programs are designed to do what the radical progressives like him want to do..to destroy our economy and rebuild it as a socialist society. There is a method to the madness. Remember his associations. ACORN, Soros, etc. Nothing coincidental about that.
