In some ways looking at the amount of anger between religious conservatives and so called liberals I wonder if the USA should break up.
Do you religious conservatives in poorer states need liberals for any purpose other than the taxes they are forced to send to your state via Washington DC ?

The idea of an united states of Canada was humourous at first but I wonder if there is not a grain of truth in the idea.
So a question for American liberals, are you more comfortable with the vast majority of Canadians rather than some small town types whose values are shaped by a book and by the need to keep a firearm close at all times ?

So is the time close for the USA to break up ?

I live in a conservative state (use the term "conservative"....NOT "religious conservative") that is NOT a poorer state - GASP!

Oh - and we send more money to Washington than we get back.

Nice attempt at labeling all conservatives as religious extremists and all conservative states as poor and leeching off the federal government/liberal states.

Red face thanks

for breaking down that email question into something I could understand. I think I get why it sounded giberish to me... It was propaganda.
In answer to the question as I think it is being asked. Should the USA break up? Well I am now thinking that if we can break up in groups of a value system then I am for it. I certainly would rather be living near someone that shares my value system than with most other types oh yeah and hey, can we break up by apathetic and empathic people in general too. : )

Most liberals I've heard from accuse the conservatives of being "rich".

But I suspect that conservatives everywhere have no use for liberals, anywhere.....

No. I might be in favor of it if it were an easy thing to do, but the break-up would cause tremendous difficulties for everybody, I believe.

I don't see any differences that we can't resolve or compromise on.

As a UK/Aussie/ NZ type Conservative I find it amusing that socialists with a religious bent call themselves Conservatives.
If one expects other regions of a country to pay your costs that makes one a socialist.
Then again I question so called Conservatives who go whining to governments for corporate welfare.

If one is a Conservative, one should allow the cards to fall as they will under the free market system.

Not me. First thing I think of when I hear the word "conservative" is "gun-toting, anti-choice, anti-higher-education redneck Christian fundamentalist."

Clearly, this does not describe all conservatives, and I would never classify all Republicans or conservatives as such, but it's generally the stereotype I think of first. Probably because the gun-toting, anti-choice, anti-higher-education redneck Christian fundies are the loudest, most obnoxious conservatives.

I don't generally think "rich" when I think "conservative" though. In fact, most wealthy people I know are either Independents or Democrats.
