Interesting revisionist history. But the fact is the Democrats tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Look at the percentage of Republicans and Dems voting for it. The reality is it was the Republicans who passed it.

Civil Rights Act of 1964 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The bill came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964 and the "Southern Bloc" of southern Senators led by Richard Russell (D-GA) launched a filibuster to prevent its passage. Said Russell: "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would have a tendency to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our (Southern) states."[5]"

"On the morning of June 10, 1964, Senator Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) completed an address that he had begun 14 hours and 13 minutes earlier opposing the legislation. "

he original House version:[9]
Democratic Party: 152-96 (61%-39%)
Republican Party: 138-34 (80%-20%)
The Senate version:[9]
Democratic Party: 46-21 (69%-31%)
Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)
The Senate version, voted on by the House:[9]
Democratic Party: 153-91 (63%-37%)
Republican Party: 136-35 (80%-20%)

ETA: Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Lindsay, nor Calvin Coolidge were Democrats. I don't know about Albert Einstein, but there is evidence he beat his wife, and also palgarized her work, so he's no role model for me.
It means that the Democrats of today are way out in left field. I think most Democrat leaders and I mean strong serious Democrat leaders of the past would abhor what Obama is doing and probably vote to impeach him.

I must say I have read many Einstein biographies, and I have never heard of these allegations. A quick Google search turned up nothing. Would you be able to provide some evidence?

Unfortunately, probably not. I do remember reading about his wife-beating years ago in one of my husband's more obscure physics journals. The plagarism is a little better known; I have read it several places and it was also discussed in at least one PBS documentary about Einstein.

Then please be careful about such accusations they are pretty serious and many people like myself hold him in high regard. I think it is most unfair to throw out such explosive charges without a stitch of support. Really outrageous.

If you do a google search about plagarism, you will find a lot of stuff. Most of it exonerates Einstein.

I just read some of it. He was married twice, and had several affairs.

Albert Einstein: Plagiarist and Fraud | Altermedia news U.S.A.

"After the divorce, he saw little of his sons. The elder, Hans Albert, later reflected ‘Probably the only project he ever gave up on was me.’ "

Albert Einstein: The Incorrigible Plagiarist

So you were wrong on both counts he didn't plagiarize and he certainly didn't beat his wife. I must say that your defense of the wife beating allegation by pointing out he wasn't a perfect husband is particularly distasteful.

I haven't voted for a Democrat, even for dog catcher, since 1968 so I'm only a bit ahead of you.

Before you castigate me so thoroughly, you might take a look at this from PBS, which is a respectable news source:

Einstein's Wife . Mileva's Story | PBS

Then there's this:

I love this board. The irony is so thick sometimes you'd need a diamond-tipped chainsaw to get through it.
Here's one for proof.
And if you want more on it, just google wife beating with Einstein's name in it.
Be sure to read the link.
