It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it.
Be sure and show it to your kids.
They need a little history lesson on what's what, and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican.
The facts are there!!

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
Incomes into the Program,

3. ) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,

4) That the money contributed by the participants would be put into the
independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the
general operating fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.


Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month --
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put
away' -- you may be interested in the following:

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

Additionally, the authors of this social ponzi scheme never intended it to be the sole source of ones retirement. That's a major part of the problem with the concept of social security,..i.e., relying on SS payments as the ONLY source of retirement funding. FDR said:

We shall make the most orderly progress if we look upon social security as a development toward a goal rather than a finished product. We shall make the most lasting progress if we recognize that social security can furnish only a base upon which each one of our citizens may build his individual security through his own individual efforts."

This is the reason that I don't trust government... they have a long tradition of LYING and changing things to $crew people in the end... I don't trust them to handle handle care, retirement, or even taking care of my pets... that isn't to say that all government is bad cause the government can do a lot of good... what I notice is that people in this country lack a LOT of long-term vision... they don't see the abuse that comes after.. sure its sounds good "now" but its anything but good later... corporations love to take what's good now and turn it into a monster that it is afterward... guess who controls the politicians? As evident by Obama flip-flopping on many of the issues that he stood by in his campaign but changed after taking office... he isn't as immune as he thinks... he needs the support and support = corporate lobbyists... the system needs reform... but has hidden itself so that "other" reforms take up the issue... where is government reform in all of this mess? WHERE IS IT?
