UHC is a good example of a solution we don't need, paid for with money we don't have. Yet another government "brainfart". Crude, but there's no other way to describe it.
Again, we arrive at the inescapable fact that every country (industrialized- we soon will not meet that criteria) which has universal health care is more satisfied with their system than are we with ours.
Which is why 70% of US want.............. a public option.
Tell that to people in Canada that what to wait 3 months for a test to see if you have cancer. Then if they find cancer you have to wait another 3 months for a Pet Scan test. Then treatment would start in 4 months by then you are dead.

That's absolutely not true. I know people in Canada that have genetic debilitating disorders and they get absolutely EXCELLENT treatment. They get their meds on time, they get all their blood tests, MRIs, DEXA Scans etc etc all on time and efficiently done. I have private health insurance and I have to fight tooth and nail to get approved for my yearly exams.

Average wait times in Canada in 2005:
specialist visit- 4 weeks
non-emergency surgery- 4 weeks
diagnostic tests- 3 weeks
The person who told you this either had an extremely abnormally bad experience with the canadian health care system or they were lying.

That's still quite long. I can see a specialist same week with current insurance, and diagnostic tests usually come back in 5-8 days on average. Although I support UHC, I don't support single-payer. It depends too much on tax revenues, whether they go up or down. I'd prefer a Japanese model, where everyone is required to purchase an insurance plan and PE conditions don't matter, and most hospitals are still private. Those who can't afford a plan by themselves get government assistance for insurance or direct coverage. There is still a great deal of choice in the Japanese system. Also, doctors aren't worried about malpractice like here.
we should just have a choice. you either get the post office service, or you get fedex. which will people choose.
don't people wish they got a better spokesman for health care than a 17000 lb troll?
So rather then addressing JUST the issue of healthcare you have to make a personal attack against the maker of the movie to hide the fact you have nothing of substance here??
In the UK people have the choice to also have private insurance. No one is trying to take your choice away from you.

I think your exagerating there.
When I was in the UK as a visitor for three months, I got pneumonia, I was treated for free and I only paid 5 pounds per 10 days of my medication. that would have cost me $100 per 10 days here for the meds alone.
