Possibly.

And the Democratic party will implode, as the last of Obama's campaign promises- the ones which elected him- is broken.

Remember what Howard Dean said on this matter?

of course i have no clue about you or your pregnancy. just speaking from my real experience. my neighbor couldnt have a normal birth cause she was conned into a c section the first time and the rule at the time was you could not have a normal birth after a c section. so she had a normal birth anyway with a midwife. so much for the docs bad advice.they have us so scared its almost criminal

The plan, despite its hefty cost, will still leave 17 million uninsured people. If the healthcare "savings" aren't high enough, another round of taxes are to be implemented. Want to bet they will hit people making less than 250K a year?

Still no REAL information on how the savings are to be gotten. Just generalities on being more "efficient" etc. Guess they don't want people to know about the rationing that will have to be done to get these savings until after the bill is passed. Typical gutless politicians.

All in all, it is a very flawed bill. I wouldn't be so "jubilant" if I was a House Democrat.

If they truly wanted to take an effective step to bring the cost of insurance policies down, which would not increase ANYONE'S taxes btw, they should allow the sale of coverage across state lines.

This is an aspect that is rarely mentioned in discussions of healthcare costs, though Obama has commented on it occasionally in speeches.

Republicans should love the concept because it will encourage competition between private-sector businesses by opening up new markets.

If you live in a state like NY, whose Insurance Department does NOT permit the sale of individual catastrophic health insurance policies, you cannot obain one. Period. You can go on the web and look at companies who do business in other states, such as Maine, Florida, etc and see the affordable catastrophic policies you could buy if you lived there ..... exactly like a kid standing outside the window of a candy store having a "closed" sign on the door.

This is a case where state's rights are in direct opposition to an aspect of the welfare of the country's citizens as a whole. I get that each state should have the right to make its own regulations regarding insurance, which they do for auto, homeowners, and life. Each state sets the guidelines about what they allow to be sold in their state and says "If you live in our state you can only buy insurance from companies that we have allowed to do business in our state." But AFAIK there is no national crisis about the affordability of auto, homeowners, or life insurance.

If I could call up Yukkamukka Insurance Company who currently does business in Maine and buy a catastrophic health insurance policy with a $50,000 or $75,000 deductible (because I could afford to absorb that much without going into debt or selling off assets) for $1000 or $1500/yr just for peace of mind against something like cancer or whatever, I would do it. Then those posters who are so concerned about paying for my uninsured medical costs could sleep better at night.

But alas, the State of NY says I cannot do that because Yukkamukka Insurance isn't licensed in New York. And the federal government doesn't have the sense to pass a law telling New York and all the other states that they must let their residents shop outside their own state for health insurance.

Not just on the wealthy, but on those making under $250k;

Hot Air » Blog Archive » ObamaCare: Taxing the uninsured
Does the House really want to raise taxes on eight million uninsured people?*|*KeithHennessey.com

Quote:
As expected, the House bill would mandate that individuals and families have or buy health insurance.

But what if they don’t buy it?

Then Section 401 kicks in. Any individual (or family) that does not have health insurance would have to pay a new tax, roughly equal to the smaller of 2.5% of your income or the cost of a health insurance plan. …

But if you’re a single person with income of $44,000 or higher, then you’re above 400% of the poverty line. You would not be subsidized, but would face the punitive tax if you didn’t get health insurance. This bill leaves an important gap between the subsidies and the cost of health insurance. CBO says that for about eight million people, that gap is too big to close, and they would get stuck paying higher taxes and still without health insurance.

WASHINGTON -- House Democrats on Tuesday unveiled sweeping health-care legislation that would hit all but the smallest businesses with a penalty equal to 8% of payroll if they fail to provide health insurance to workers.
This is going to kill small business - more jobs down the obama sh*tter.
