WOW that email has been forwarded a lot of times, don't you know how to use notepad to edit text before you post? That has to be the worst C&P I've ever seen on this board.

I abhor the catholic institution btw

Just because the church has a lot of universities and schools doesn't mean they're any good. I went to Catholic school and I can tell you more students that go there dropout from college and end up knocked up than most public schools.

That's a nice speech, except that he felt the need to attack Protestants, I guess to make the Catholics audience feel good... I would have cut that part.

I do have to agree with the schools point. I went to a Catholic College and loved it. My brother went to Catholic Middle School after I saw how horrible the public school was, they really cared. It cost me just $2600 a year to send him to a private Catholic School. No other school costs this little. They do charge very little compared to the alternative. I don't like single-sex high schools (catholic or not) because I think teenagers should be able to interact with both sexes. So I wouldn't mind co-ed catholic high schools.
The problem most have with the Catholic church is that they don't do their due diligence to report pedophile priests! They SHOULDN'T try to cover it up and just send the priest to another community, they should report it and let the police deal with them!

No church is "the most" anything, well, I guess the catholics do have the most pedophiles.

When you cut and paste, could you please fix the format and delete the >>>s.
Otherwise we know it's just a cut and past job from a very special email you received.

Let me tell you a little more about the catholic church...
priests get a salary, cars and a nice place to live.
How about the nuns? Do they get such a good retirement, cars and a nice place to live?
Do they still send nuns home to their families when they're old and sickly?
They have the greatest double standard going.
They own riches that could feed the poor catholic populations throughout the world.

They pay no taxes on some great real estate throughout the United States.
They're not giving anything away.
They charge their teachers for their child's education; no discount even.

I know a little about them, I went to 12 years of catholic school.
Did get a good education and am very happy to have attended an all girls high school.
There were some phenomenal women I am proud to know from those years.

What would I give you for that religion (or any other really), not a plug nickle.

Like what some public schools do to cover up their pedophile teachers?

When the Catholic Church takes the same rabid stance on captial punishment as it does on being anti-choice ... then I'll go back.

I worked in a retirement home (12 years)for nuns paid for by the nun's order, and a family friend is a nun for 40 years. I don't know of any sister who was sent home to family once sick.

Priests don't take a vow of poverty, nuns do. Priests can own their own car, a sisiter gets her car from the community. The community can also help isiters pay for an apartment if they so desire and don't earn enough money (many convents have been sold off during the years).

Most sisters who work contribute to social security, so they do get social security. Usually it is given to the motherhouse who then redistributes it to the sisters for things like housing assitance, insurance co payments etc.

The sisters live according to the rules of their community.

And you are right, there are many fabulous women who are nuns.
