The President of the US holds a 1 hour press conference to talk about an overhaul of the health care system in the US that could save 1000s of americans lives in our country.

One journalist ask a question that has NOTHING to do with the health care reform.
The President gives a descent answer except for that the fact that he said that "The police officer acted stupidly" after admitting that he doesn't know all the facts.

Guess what was the big story the next day...

Overhauling the health care system to save 1000s of American lives or the President saying that the police acted stupidly?

It proves how liberal the media is. The health care discussion was a total failure, and this was an easy distraction from that. Since the Gates comments were really a sidebar, the media should have reported on Obama's failure to make a case for his health care reform plan.

Right wing?

That is the blue state of Massachusetts and a cop who voted for obama, not to mention the union - obama should have kept his mouth shut.

Exactly. The media puts a nonissue front and center to distract.

So, wait, unless the President acts, people will die? Is our health care system one that's causing people to die left and right? Or is it one that people from other countries are actually spending their own money to come over and get treatment?

I love how you act like thousands of lives are at stake on this. Buddy, our system, while a little screwed up, is the best in the world. Period.

Does it need tweaking? Yep. Does everything? Yep.

An overhaul is NOT the answer and will NOT make it better. Quite the contrary.

It is just an indication of what people think of O-bysmal's messed up health care plan.

I never defend the fawning media but the racial thing was the ONLY thing we heard new in the whole press conference and I think he said it in less time than his other zzzzzzzzzzz answers. Everyone expected the President to champion a particular healthcare bill in either the House or The Senate and then give specifics on why that one was better than some other one. Instead, he gave the same old pie in the sky answers that we all heard before. In other words, the racial question was the only thing reporters didn't hear before so it was the only thing that got them excited. But that's their fault! The question was DUMB. You get the President's ear, with all the crappola swirling around, and you ask him about some local Massachusetts incident. How stupid is the twinkletoes national media?

How could there be a one hour PRESS conference without a single question about why the Congressional Budget Office healthcare costs don't match the White House costs? It was in the news that the President called the CBO to the White House and NO ONE asks about what was discussed or why the discrepancy? How could there be a one hour PRESS conference and no one asks the President what he thinks the impact to patients will be if doctors get less reimbursement for Medicare patients? Does he think doctors won't take new Medicare patients? Does he think doctors will drop current Medicare patients?

The President won't or doesn't know how to give pithy specific responses. But when he doesn't get questions that require those kind of answers, it's no wonder he goes all pie in the sky on us. It's what he does best - loftyspeak.

That's at the front of the news because Obama acted stupidly. If he had said, "I'm not going to comment on that," we would have no news story.

I think it's just another indication that the media isn't right or left, but that it's just tabloid.

They know that they'll get the most viewers / clicks by leading with Obama saying the stupidly comment rather than health care.

Just look at how CNN ran with the Michael Jackson story for weeks on end.
