A local TV poll here shows 74% of those responding are against Obamacare.

Do you think he would read a letter of testimonial from me? I don't think it would even draw a grin from him.

Four years ago I had what I consider a slight heart attack since there was no pain involved but some discomfort. This was on a Sunday morning about 10:00 am and by 5:00 I was on my way to a hospital where the necessary doctors and physical machinery were available to save my life. The EMT who rode in the ambulance with me says that she is sure that at one point, just for seconds, I passed on because the blood pressure dropped to that low a point.

Anyway they did the necessary heart cath on Monday morning and found me with three arteries 85% plugged and three 95% plugged. They did the very necessary 6 bypass surgery on Wednesday morning and I am still around and at least as healthy as most 60 year old healthy males.

With Obamacare I would have had to wait for days or months for that surgery and sure probably wouldn't have survived. Now there were extenuating circumstances but would the bureaucrat in Washington have known about them? I think not. The circumstances involved a urologist asking me to stay away from blood thinning aspirin for 8 days so he could perform a biopsy on my prostate for obvious reasons. We, locally, knew that my blood thickened in that time and just wasn't able to supply my heart with enough blood so we needed help.

I am quite sure that under the system Ezekiel Emanuel want inserted I could have stripped down and said to insert it in my butt if they could manage it before I had to be buried. I love this care I get now and will not get under Obamacare.

I guess we just gotta pull ourselves up by our bootstraps.
You have very much of this story straight and as one of the early soldiers that Europe depended on in the 1950s I can agree with what you say here. However, as one of the really old people (I am 76) who will suffer under what is being passed off as healthcare these days I wonder how many more years I will survive. I am thinking that with what they are proposing in the House my days are severely numbered.

Damn those Europeans and their socialized medicine. Obama wants socialized medicine to ride as the horse to socialism of something more than they admit to having.

It seems like some people are afraid of change. You have good insurance keep it. Are you afraid you may have to pay for someone else, are you afraid you may be taxed on your insurance, are you afraid your wonderful plan will be changed to a plan us common folks have? What exactly are you afraid of? No one is saying insurance will be free. From what I understand any thoughts of a tax are for the extremely well off. Pay up buddy you didn't become well off with out the help of your fellow American buying your product or your service.

Come up with a plan for those without to be able afford insurance as well. Your afraid something is going to change or be taken away from you. Most likely in order for you to have insurance I ( or someone) has to use a service or product from the place you work. In essence I am helping to pay for your insurance. What happens to the economy when more and more of our money and your companies money goes to paying for insurance. We stop buying . What happens to those businesses and the company you work for. Now your out of a job and your with me trying to do the right thing by buying insurance and cutting back on other things.

Until you are in a position of losing a job, or having a job without insurance, or having a child graduate from college and worry about the time he or she is uninsured, or the 3 months wait when starting a job before insurance kicks in, or pre-existing conditions or a company who lays you off because you got cancer and they can no longer afford the insurance increase, or having to pay for your own policy and the increase is 12% a year which is 1/3 of your salary, or your company decides they can no afford insurance, or you got sick and can't work... until you experience it you probably won't know why not only the need for change but to do it quickly. My best friend has insurance her son got cancer not only did she have to worry about the chances of her son dying she also worried about whether or not she was going to lose everything she worked for for the past 20 years ontop of losing her son. So until you can walk in someone elses shoes you won't understand unless you are an empathetic to others.
I have been through every single item on your list, except for the cancer part. Life happens, you figure other things out. But I never once wished I lived in another country so my life would be taken care of for me. I've lost everything, got it back, lost again, starting to get it back, myself. I'm a strong person, things happen, you move on. You are what's wrong with people, stop feeling sorry for yourself. I would rather live in a tree house I built myself, than anything the government would hand over to me. Remember, you take the money, you take the s%#$ that comes with it!

Why? Show the part of Obama's plan that would make you wait. SHOW IT!

"" Now there were extenuating circumstances but would the bureaucrat in Washington have known about them? """

No, but the doctor would.

Would the insurance executive who decides your care NOW care about your circumstances? No.

This issue has been tossed around for 60 years, I would not call that a rush.
Shameful that it has not been addressed in a country that considers itself civilized.

And yet the whole world looks to us for help, money, answers. We have none now because of our current situation. Even the Russians laugh at us. We look like a bunch of pansey's because of our lack national spirit. Obama has us so divided, and I do blame him and that thing called chief of staff in his office, we are pathetic. We are the only ones who care about our country, you, me and the people who care to voice their opinions, and the millions who don't because they can't or don't know how to. The rest of them are sitting in their office laughing at what they are doing. On both sides of the aisle, things need to really change. What is shameful is that you don't see that.

Rush Limbaugh is fond of this metaphor ... he's fond of grabbing ankles.
