A man in Sarasota, Florida was arrested and handcuffed for public intoxication. When taken to the police station, a video camera taped an officer kicking and punching the intoxicated man. Then holding him facedown, apparently on concrete for a few additional minutes; but causing no serious injuries.

Subsequently the "city" offered the man one week's pay if he signed off that the Sarasota police had done nothing wrong. When the check failed to arrive at the man's address; after he had already signed the waiver, the police personally went to the local post office. They acquired the check (envelope) and delivered it personaly to the aforementioned man.

What do you...fellow posters...think of these actions? I for one am APPALLED but not surprised, since I have lived here 20 years and this is not the first time that an incident of excessive force has been documented! The man was apparently from Guatemala and allegedly did not speak English.

No comment here. Why don't you ask Obama, I am sure he has an opinion.

This is why it is important to speak English when you come to America. Or if you don't speak English, maybe don't cause any trouble to get yourself arrested.
