Default Should Gay couples Adopt children

Should Gays be allowed to adopt children? Most states say no. However, these same states say it's ok for Gay couples to be foster parents? Isn't this a little hypocritical? Do Gay parents bring up children just as well as straight ones? I hear "the kids will be confused and become gay too". I don't know about that. Couples that produce gay kids are always straight, aren't they?

Here In Florida...

We allow gays and lesbians to foster kids, but not to adopt. Even after years of fostering kids, they can not adopt the same children.

Very sad. Very sick, IMO.

Actually, the opposite view is sick. Nice try at re-inventing families, though.

Absolutely not. Haven't gays chose a life where they could not even have a child to begin with?

I've added a poll to this to make it easier to keep tally of the yea's / nay's.

Re-inventing families? Like every single family is perfect. What is your definition of family? Mom, Dad, Sis, Bro and the family dog?

If the state allows someone to foster a child from birth until, say five, and parental rights are severed, why shoudln't the foster parent be allowed to adopt the child? It is the only parent that child has known. And it's not like there is another family waiting in the wings.

I feel that every child deserves a mom and a dad. Sorry if that offends you, or places me in your "bigot column".

Once again, one of MANY people who think Gay people CHOSE to be gay. Common, let go of all your stereotypes and just think and put yourself in their shoes? Would you chose to be gay? Would you chose to be killed because of who you love? Who you chose to be kick out of your church because of who you are? Would you chose to be discriminated against because of who you are? Would you chose for your parents to dis-own you? Would you chose to live in a society where many people look at you as a second class citizen? Come on...Gay people don't CHOSE to be gay.

Doesn't offend me in the least. I had that. But in the real world, in America, that isn't always an option.

How many children have you fostered or adopted?

My DH and I fostered eight. He's dead now and a gay couple will take my son if I die before he is an adult.
