I think that the whole arguement over socialized healthcare is a freakin joke made up by the ignorant and subversive. The same people who were so eager to send our troops to war are the same ones complaining about so called socialized medicine, which by-the-way is what our military get when they come home. Military hospitals and VA hospitals are socialized medicine examples. I just want to add so is the medicare and medicaid programs. Why can't everyone get the same care as the politicians? Why is it the people that are working turn up their collective noses towards the not so fortunate? You all must realize that there is a probelm with our healthcare system and it needs to be fixed. Many of you are actually believing the hype that the insurance companies are putting out there which if you think about it is the only group of people who really are going to suffer if it all goes through.

Incidentally how can you argue about Cuba's heathcare system if you never experienced it? Have any of you been to Canada's or France's hospitals? While I'm on the subject WHAT IN THE HELL DOES DISSENTS IN CUBA HAVE TO DO WITH HEALTHCARE?

Just because the US government has intervened TOO MUCH already into our health care system and has caused insurance prices to skyrocket, causing many people to go without health care doesn't mean the quality of our healthcare system sucks.

Hell, just do a search for pictures of Cuban hospitals on Google. See what you come up with.

Let's see, this:

What I don't get about your post is that you and I live in a city (Houston) with arguably the best health care available to us in the WORLD! Why would you possibly think that somehow Cuba's system is better?

I have never seen the sun rise in China, but I know that it does every single day.

What makes you think people are not denied access to treatment in countries with socialized medicine?

You arer right. Texas Medical Center is the largest amd most say the best medical complex in the world. Yes we have all the fancy machines. However, not everyone can afford the care there. And countries like Cuba, France...they focus on preventive care. People in this great land can go years without a checkup.

I am going for my annual check up tomorrow at St Luke's where my doc is affiliated. Why should I be prevented from seeing the doctor of my choice because on the of the roughly 10 million who genuinely need help with insurance (illegal immigrants and those who choose big screen tv's and cars over medical coverage do not count).

If every wealthy bleeding heart in Hollywood (Barbara Streisand) and their fans would pay for those they think are deserving out of their own pockets instead of picking mine, we wouldn't have a problem.

And before any self righteous lib starts crying again about compassion, my wife and I donate 10% of our pre-tax income to non profit charities. And even though I work for a non-profit myself, we somehow manage to get by. Go figure...
