It turns out that state money is just a very small part of fundage so this is a non-issue. Private contributions or streamlining and cutting costs can make up that small difference.
had you read the thread you'd see posting this was redundant.
I see the GOP'ers are still pushing their "family values" ideology of treating women like dirt.
It's taken directly from the John Edwards playbook. Next they'll take from the Obama vetting process and implement as many tax evaders as possible. I mean who needs revenues from taxes to pay for things like state run programs...
The offering, the state's first sale of longer-term bonds since June, didn't come cheap for taxpayers: The longest-term bond, maturing in 2038, will pay investors an annualized tax-free yield of 6.1%.
I would bet people are too. They'll feel a lot more confident now that the state is actually being proactive on it's future instead of reacting.
Arnold has cut 100% of the funding for the domestic violence programs. Shelters will have to close. He is also cutting the welfare to work program. I think Arnold has a problem with women, does anyone else think so?
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed off on revisions to the 2009-10 budget Tuesday, but he drew the anger of Democratic lawmakers by making last-minute cuts to programs they fought to protect.
Schwarzenegger made $489 million in cuts to the budget revision package passed by the Assembly and Senate last week. Most of those cuts, made in the form of vetoes to parts of the package, were from health and human services programs, including In-Home Support Services and AIDS prevention.
......
Assemblyman Anthony Adams, R-Claremont, said most of the cuts were necessary, but he said he'll have a hard time swallowing the cut to domestic violence shelters. Schwarzenegger's $16.3 million cut eliminates all state funding for the programs.
"Many (shelters) will not be able to be supported without that funding," Adams said. "That $16 million supported almost 105,000 people in the state - people who will have nowhere to go other than the emergency room. That's not a good answer."
He should have never signed it off these shelters should get all the money they can to help these women, i disagree with him signing it off!
