Two-thirds of young people feel the extravaganza gives a false image of homosexuality and does not promote gay emancipation.
Some 40% of the 1,600 heterosexual and 400 homosexual young people questioned said the parade is an 'embarrassment'. But almost 90% said they would not have a problem if their boss or teacher was gay.

They are a very good impression from the one's I've been too. They neither have lewd or promiscuous behaviors. They are simple parades with floats, cars, and people in costumes. Nothing outrageous.
The parades don't change my perception at all. But this year I was pretty proud of this dance troupe dressed up like cowboys doing a choreographed routine to These Boots are Made for Walking, they rocked.

You have got to be kidding or have never seen one or checked them out on the internet. They have both lewd and promiscuous nasty behavior.
From what I have seen they are just in your face porn on parade. They have turned many people against gays.

Right, you've never been to one ever, have you? You're basing your narrow impression on some pictures someone sent you, right? Why don't you actually go out & see one & then get back to us because right now you're talking out of your you know what.
An increasing number of gays have been asking that question. I think they're tired of being seen as different and separate, and there's an increasing number who find them embarrassing. To me, there's a freak show aspect that I'm not comfortable with.
A few years ago, I had a discussion with a friend of mine (we're both gay) who felt the same way as I do. Back then, it felt like it was still taboo to say anything negative about gay pride events, and I remember how happy I was to find out that a friend had the same negative opinions about them that I do. These days, I have little trouble saying what I really think about them, in part because I know there are many who agree with me. I think non-gays are also more comfortable being critical of them now, and I see that as a good thing.
