That's interesting, W Bush as a helpless victim. Was it hard to adjust to this from the old "Mission Accomplished" image?
I would not know. I did not vote for Bush his second term because he was growing government and acting more like a Democrat. My goal for the remainder of my time on this earth is to vote out every incumbent that runs for an office, local, state, national until they wake up and become public servants once again. Will you join me or are you too mesmerized?
Now that things have started to turn good for President Obama...like the economy, the huge success of the C.A.R.S. program...even most of the Reps in the House voted to expand it. Looks like he will get health care done, something that this country has been trying for the last 50 years and he will get it done...the hate from the right will just became stronger...those dbags rather see this country fail than succeed the Obama way, i say F them. We had to put up with their way of doing things for the past 8 year and where did that get us? the worst economic meltdown in a long time...now all the sudden they want us to believe they have all the answers..that they too have a health care reform..well where the f was that health care reform from 2000 to 2006 when they had total control...why are they now bitching about spending when the last 3 Republican presidents are pretty much responsible for most of our debt..so all the sudden they got the answers for that too... Bush cut taxes for the rich, it was all great...Obama cuts taxes for 95% of Americans..its a wasteful spending..
Good Post - What I have been hearing and reading is this; If Obama succeeds on Health Care Reform and he will, it will all but doom the GOP for a generation and the GOP knows this. That is one of the big reasons why the GOP is fighting reform tooth and nail. Clearly they are not watching out for the people but instead big lobby groups such as Big Pharma...
For months, Republicans have been trying to scare Americans away from supporting a
public option in health care reform, claiming that “government-run” medicine is akin to socialism and would be disastrous. But the government already runs several successful, well-loved health care programs —
most notably, Medicare.
Yesterday, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) decided that it was “put-up or shut-up time for the phonies
who deride the so-called ‘public option.’” He offered an amendment that would eliminate government-run Medicare (http://weiner.house.gov/news_display.aspx?id=1334 - broken link):
Why must Democrats rewrite history?? Bush spent like a drunk Democrat...that is why most of us couldn't stand him in his second term. BUT...the reality is the Dems were as responsible if not more so than any Republican. The mortgage/housing meltdown which caused our economy to collapse was the work of the Democrats led by Bawney Frank and Christopher Dodd (both Dems) on the Banking Committee. These two buffoons were warned as early as 2005 that the forcing of Fannie and Freddie to purchase a required percentage of minority owned mortgages pushed them to put pressure on banks to make horrible loans. People who could NEVER afford a mortgage were given one. Now some of this was unscrupulous banks and mortgage companies but PLEASE, you know if you make $42,0000 a year you should not be looking at $500,000 homes. Yes, your payments in the first three years may have been at 2% but unfortunately, the people who were getting these loans were such POORLY qualified applicants, that the rate escalated after that to justify the risk the banks were taking. The Dems were told to stop forcing these bad loans (I know the banks willingly made these loans but they were mandated to do so). People were getting mortgages who you and I would not lend 25 cents to for a piece of bubble gum....surprise, surprise when the house of cards literally came crashing down. Barney Frank should be in jail. He gave a DIRECT quote in 2005 that Fannie and Freddie were in "GOOD" shape and that even if they weren't we would not have to "BAIL" them out!!!! Talk about chicken's coming home to roost. This boob was WRONG on both accounts and had a VERY big part in this economic meltdown. Now he says people misunderstood him and the Xanax taking American nod their heads and believe whatever ANY politician tells them!!! I'd love a million dollar home unfortunately I cannot afford it and was taught that you must live within your means....oh, by the way...talk about criminal associations.....i guess Chris Dodd's associations and mortgages with Countrywide, one of the biggest benefactors of these HORRIBLE mortgages, was never investigated by anyone!!???

What I am talking about is that when somebody says a 50 year old President will most likely not finish his term because certain people don't like his policies, how else do you read that? I had to read it twice just to make sure I was not making a mistake. There is only one way I can interpret that and that is basically a threat to the life of the President. How else is he going to be removed from office before 2012? If that is not what the OP meant, he needs to clear up his language.

I will admit that mistakes- bad mistakes- were made in Fannie and Freddie and- yes- some of them were the fault of the Democrats. But I will also say that Democrat programs like the VA Housing and FHA have helped millions of Americans for decades into their first homes. Republicans of course oppose these as they do anything that helps anybody but the rich.

Congress was majority Republican from 1995 to 2007.
