He and his party leaders are getting desperate, now resorting to ridiculous name calling(Nazis) and asking your neighbor to let him know what you are saying in opposition of his healthcare plan. Those on his side say it's not what you think, they aren't asking for names. Well of course they aren't asking, but they will get them anyway. If there is one thing Obama supporters have shown, it is that they are vindictive and I know most would put your name down if they knew it just for spite. You can see that just by watching them post on this site. I wonder how many CD users have already been reported by supporters of the healthcare bill?

I truly think this could be the issue that finally breaks this country's back. Is that what Obama truly wants? The way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised to see another civil war break out here in America. Only this time, it will be the capitalists vs. the socialists. I hope this never happens, but I gaurantee even if they get this thing past, it will not be over. People simply won't comply. Without the support of the people, these bills are nothing but paper. We can break this without ever raising a hand in violent protest. All we have to do is what Ghandi did. Don't do what they say.
It is funny watching you people get all bent out of shape. The sad part is though, I think you actually believe all the craziness you write. Really bizarre.

I have been a lifelong Republican. That was until this last election. I watched the Republican party completely destroy itself and clutch at straws to win the Election. I watched McCain and especially Palin encourage violence and treat the voters as idiots. I watched fabricated hard to believe stories coming from the Republican Campaign such as "Joe the plumber" with open mouthed amazement.
Most people in America, Republican or Democrat, agree that the health system must change. Most in America are now through with the way the Country is Governed by Corporations. Most in America have had enough of corruption and self interest being rewarded at the expense of hard working Americans. The huge obscene bonuses are now returning and this will be the case for Health insurance companies if the new health system includes the private sector. Sanity seems to have flown out of the window.
The Town Hall meetings are no longer legitimate ways of airing our views or using our civil rights. They have become organised anti Obama rallies and are using the health bill as a excuse for hatred. Most of the people, maybe all, who attend these "rallies", i mean Town Hall meetings, have not read the health bill but are violently against it. Do these thugs again think the American people are stupid as they did during the election. Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, Hannity etc. are frantically stirring up hatred and it is working. Reason no longer comes into this health debate, just sound bites and reciting lies that have been spread and believed.
To the people going to Town Hall meetings to try to stop the health reform with violence, screaming and hysteria.... STAY AWAY! You could not brow beat us to vote for a bad candidate in Nov. You are not going to stop reasonable discussion on health reform.
Whatever the final outcome, whether a partly public plan or a full UHC, it will come from debate, cool heads, examination of all options and picking what will give every American healthcare and not from the Nazi, kkk style tactics that is now being used at Town Hall meetings.
We can see right through your actions and we know your true motives.

Hitchcock--I totally agree with what you said.

I wish there was a way to get more Americans to understand the Corporations (Wall St. and the Insurance industry are prominent ones) have taken control of government (both Democrats and Republicans) through campaign contributions and lobbyists. THEY OWN THESE POLITICIANS.

There interests are always paramount and always represented.

Corporations give millions to BOTH democrats and republicans. Whoever gets elected--they still win.

It's Corporate America that has destroyed this country. They have shipped millions of jobs overseas (over the past 15 years) for slave wages, while paying themselves Billions and kicking Americans out of work.

2/3 of US corporations pay no taxes.

The media wants us all to argue about democrats versus republicans, immigration, abortion, Michael Jackson and whatever.

Just don't talk about what's really going on here.

The Big Takeover : Rolling Stone (http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/26793903/the_big_takeover/1 - broken link)

Here's another article on how Corporate America owns the government.

That is what he is trying to do. You have to understand that the Republicans want to prevent any possible success he may have even if it is at the expense of the American people. They don't care if people die, lose jobs lose their houses get sick and die without insurance it doesn't matter. Power is all that matters to them and they will remain just a marginal party if Obama is successful. The Republicans are in a complete panic and it is understandable. They have become pretty much irrelevant and will become even more so. They are just resorting to anything to survive and that make them dangerous. Make no mistake they will do anything and they appeal to the stupidest and most ignorant in our society to do their dirty work. They are the party of the "Deliverance" crowd. I can hear the banjo now. Know how to identify a Republican constituent? Count their teeth. Better yet, ask them to spell "Teeth".

It's not just this thread. Look aroung the politics and other controversies page and you'll find a number of new posters. Some have just joined this month. My point is since some people are absolutely positive that the seniors who showed up are paid activists working for the insurance industry (per Pelosi's marching orders), yet we have no way of knowing who our new posters are except to take them at their word. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Back before the election, we had a few party operatives from both sides posting all the canned policy positions and robot rhetoric of their respective party. We knew they were outsiders and sure enough we haven't heard from them since November 2008.

Hmmm. Racist much?
FTR, I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican.
I voted for Obama because I thought he was going to take us out of Iraq, he was going to have an 'open government', he was going to revisit NAFTA and he was going to go 'line by line' in the budget looking for cutbacks. Instead, we're still in Iraq, and we're in Afghanistan, we've bailed out the banks and the car manufacturers, our deficit is at 12 trillion dollars and NAFTA is here to stay. We're being asked to write in to the White House to 'turn in' rumors.
I thought he was going to bring the country together, instead he's tearing it apart.
I don't have to resort to racism, I'm tired of this.

I don't believe you have to resort to racism either but the Republican party believes you do. Republican leaders are in fact fostering the very people as new republicans no party should want to be associated with. I bet if you took a poll at one of those rallies a lot of those so called republicans doing all the yelling didn't even vote in the last election.

Anyone who didn't like what I said in my last post needs to not get mad at me but at the leaders of their own party. I didn't pick Palin or a 73 year old candidate who had no chance of winning. They are not rebuilding their party, but destroying it completely. Don't blame the democrats for that. Instead of mindlessly following them, Republicans voters need to clean house. Their party leaders are a bunch of incompetent idiots. My God just look at them.

I'm happy to see new people join. It keeps the forum fresh. And if someone from say, Florida, wants to start posting in POC, so be it.
