seems like an angry meeting - be interested to hear the views of anyone who was there
Hundreds picket over health-care plan More than 600 gather outside as Rep. Brad Miller meets with opponents of Democrats' proposals to overhaul the nation's system.
RALEIGH -- The health-care debate spilled onto the streets of Raleigh on Friday, with more than 600 people picketing the office of Democratic Congressman Brad Miller, decrying his support for the president's health-care proposal.
The crowd, intense but not unruly, turned sedate, tree-lined St. Mary's Street into political theater with signs such as "Hands off My Health Care," and "God Forgive Them, They May not Know They are Helping Traitors," and "Right Wing Organizer." One man held up an empty suit on a pole.
The picketing was part of an increasingly angry and intense national debate over President Barack Obama's health-care plan, as congressional Democrats returning home for the August recess have been met by determined opponents. Critics have been demanding public town hall meetings to vent their opposition, but Democrats have largely been avoiding them, viewing them as orchestrated efforts by conservative groups to create public confrontations rather than discussions.
I would have been there if I had known about it.
Let us know when there is another.
If you do not call your representatives NOW
do not complain when our health care
is like Europe and Canada.
Well, who are you going to believe? The people that actually use it or outsiders with a defined agenda?
I am with you...I know too many people in the UK, Canada and France that are very happy with their great medical care.
And many in the US that are happy with their medical care ..tells you nothing.
Much better to check out the cancer, heart attack and stroke survival
statistics between the countries and then decide which country has the best health care. Believe the facts!!
Wonder why they come here when they have serious medical problems???
Not all do. It's more a matter of sometimes finding a specialist that in in the US and not in their country.
However, I know of many people that actually go to other countries from the US to get care. My mother's friends, a French ex-pat, has kept his medical benefits active in France (he pays a yearly fee for this since he has lived in the US for decades) and even though he has private health insurance in the US, it was still cheaper, and he got a phenomenal level of care, going back to France to have knee replacement surgery.
So...really....do tell half truths and out right lies about medical care in other countries somewhere else.
This thread is about the event that took place in Raleigh....not as a forum for right-wing fear mongering.
I see ..opinions are okay....if they are yours or agree with you.
That's actually the rules here....you have to keep the topics local. I am waiting for the mods to move it to the right forum..and then I will be MORE then happy to continue this with you.
