Yes, but the obstructionist repubs just don't care. They have no understanding of what over-priced health care can do, not just to those who get sick or have an accident , but to the rest of us getting hit with the TRUE "trickle down" and out effect.
My thread A Real Death Panel got a lot less viewers than the Death Panel thread with Palin ....repubs supporting her lies while the truth didn't attract quite so many posters...guess if I looked and acted like a spineless w-ore maybe more people would pay attention to the truth......and stop their insane worship of people who make more in a week than some Americans make in a year.

What somebody earns is not relevant to the debate. They are private companies. I don't oppose reform. I oppose reform on the backs of the very same people you demonize.
Want healthcare? Tell your congressman you want it and are willing to pay for it. Tell him you are not opposed to new taxes to pay for it. Tell him that Obama is not doing the country any favors by continuing the lie of not raising taxes on anybody under $250K while at the same time promising programs that simply can't be paid for.
It is not the reform that concerns me. It is the disingenuous method in which the Democrats are playing the game. I can deal with a public option if you are willing to pay 10% of your salary also. Are ya?
The government plan can only work if it is mandatory. This is because they need young healthy uninsured people (the young invincibles) to subsidize older less healthy people. That means two things ..... 1) premiums have to be affordable either with or without government subsidies and 2) insurance companies cannot refuse coverage.
It can't be mandatory if they have said they cannot cover everyone.
Mass. instituted a mandatory plan. It's not working out so well and is way over budget.
A question I ask is why Congress is not studying that to see what went wrong ?
One obvious one is under estimation over time from when it started.
Congress has something that's been in effect 2-3 years in Mass. They should take a good look at it before they go making the same mistake on a federal level. Once we go there we can not back out and retract.

Reverse it: Are you willing to chip in 10% to feed and house a homeless child? To provide pain medication for someone terminally ill with cancer? To
help support neighborhood clinics? To see to it that one wing of nursing home or skilled care residents are bathed and fed and medicated daily? Is there no situation so dire that it would finally "earn" that 10% you speak of? Because you sure aren't going to take it out of this world with you. Well, you could liquidate your assets and line the casket with paper money,
but I'm betting the funeral home would have it before you were even cold.
I'd happily give up 10% to help pay for a community hospital's renal dialysis machine...would you?

I already do. My marginal rate is far higher than 10%. My point is that everyone has a responsibility for their own well-being, even under a government plan.
You demonize the rich, but expect them to pay for everything. Assume you are successful in eliminating the rich - who is going to pay the tab then?

The public option is stupid.
We need something and deserve something better than that.
I don't mind paying higher taxes.
Many Americans have said the same: Public Favors Obama's Health-Care Plan - ABC News
My Congressional representation very rarely listens to me. Even if I said I was willing to pay higher taxes, they wouldn't care. They care more about corporate interests than their constituents.
Insurance companies are private businesses and as such are free to do anything they want. Nobody says you have to get health insurance. You can always just pay for it yourself.
Right.....
If I was a millionaire or billionaire, I just might believe that crock of feces.

What's "crock" about that statement ?
Insurers ARE a private business free to do what they want.
