American Health Care, as it now exists, is in the business of saving LIVES. BO's health care is in the business of saving MONEY. Which do you feel is more important---saving lives or saving money? My vote is for lives!
No offense, but you know little about the health insurance industry. As it stands, it's profits first, saving lives second.
#2) Interesting that in the Terry Schiavo case, health care WAS the government's business; quote from below article: "In this case, Republicans in Washington have mounted a hypocritical and dangerous assault on federalism, involving Congress and the President in an area where they have no Constitutional authority. Some acted believing that their religious views trump the 10th Amendment and others hoping (including putting in writing) that the issue can be used for political advantage. Global Politician - Terri Schiavo and Political Principles: Republican Errors and Their Consequences
Republicans (and other politicians, to be sure) can always count on their constituents to have a very short memory and be led by the nose in the very direction they would have opposed a short time ago.
I've found that the same people who consider paying taxes for social programs, healthcare, etc. (what they refer to as "welfare state") an affront, don't seem to mind paying taxes for warfare state programs like invading foreign countries and keeping troops stationed all over the world to fight other countries' wars. It seems like a strange attitude for anyone who considers themselves Christian.
It's because they are lying. They are using religion to try and justify the fact that they need the military to protect their "Christian Empire" just like they used it to justify slavery. They are phonies and frauds.
I believe the American dream was not about property rights
Do not bastardize the American Dream. Our forefathers fled persecution & discrimination for the freedom to pursue Property, Wealth and Happiness w/o Gov't interference or prejudice. That is the American Dream; not some faux-utopian socialist paradise were leechers get a little of everyone elses.
Lets be straight, UHC is not for the .005% who have a pre-existing condition, it is to provide more welfare to the poor. Poor who did not take advantage of the opportunities the United States provides.

UHC would actually be for everyone, whether rich or poor.

Silly me, I thought it was for everyone.
You do realize most middle class people are one major illness away from bankruptcy? No one should have to declare bankruptcy because of an illness.
