3. Lack of power on the freeway for passing and avoiding possible accidents

One can conclude that hybrid cars, especially SMART cars, are more dangerous than their normal sized gas counterparts. We have already established that they are not economical for the lower to middle class American and that going green really doesn't have much of an impact if China and India and the rest of the BRIC nations continue to open up coal plants every week.

Europe is more efficient than the US out of necessity but there is no reason for the US to follow the Europeans regarding much of their infrastructure.

Although I respectfully disagree with Fred Derf, I enjoyed listing to his point of view and have learned a few things.
Can't hear the engine when driving in the city? Have you ever walked around a city? No one is getting hit because they can't hear an engine.

in the world? do you know everyone in the world? either provide proof that he's the biggest liar or it's a lie.

That's a very good question.
Being old, I can answer anecdotally from the Atlantic Region State where I was raised, in the early 1960s, oil companies had great lobbyists stating the wonderful things that petrol will do.
Cities bought into it because the initial busses were subsidized, and did away with streetcars that ran in all weather on electric lines.
I live in boondocks Europe and we have better bus service than most places in the US.

I cant believe this "misleading" thread title is still up.

Just for the information of anyone who cares, Obama does NOT "want us all to drive around in these death traps".

Think I’ll pass on the Smart Car.
I've been driving a 2000 lb car for 22 years, and I am still here. So are millions of motorcycle riders.

So guess what. s**t happens no matter what you drive, even those that drive 18 wheelers end up in just a larger coffin. With a small vehicle, you can many times avoid a oncoming vehicle, and avoid trouble.

Sometime I've driven on the sidewalk, when the street is flooded. Can't do that in a full sized vehicle, unless you want to scrape alot of trees....

Accidents are caused by driver error. Tailgating, excessive speed, not paying attention, you name it.

Who was talking about the Tesla?
Compare it to the Prius here: Toyota Side-by-Side Comparison

Personally, I'll go for 50 mpg.

Altair Nano titanate li-ion batteries, as on the english electric lightening- they charge in 10 mins on an industrial mains system and give a 250 mile range.
