I also could respect what Matthews was doing as once he found the guy was not a complete moron and actually concerned with small government, he actually toned down the questioning. I mean he basically said what i would have said to the guy if he was a friend of mine and a fellow libertarian.
I would have questioned any friend of mine that felt the need to arm himself, if he looking to go to a public debate and discuss issues. There is no need to bring a fire arm to a public debate especially if there are children in attendance etc.
Beyond on that i thought both men held up well and got their point across.
I will add i do not watch Matthews often, but from what I've seen on the Birthers front and this particular issue he has been pretty accurate.
I would agree government has consistently over-stepped their boundaries for the past 80 years and a lot of people are legitimately sick of it, like the man in the yellow. I think Matthews was just trying to make sure he was a libertarian and not some dumb racist, that is just angry Obama is president.
I think the other problem is that and we should be honest. Where were these individuals over the last 20-30 years. This country has consistently been moving in this direction well before Obama was even born, so why now? It is a question i've been juggling with as well.
Are these people legitimately concerned about big government, because they are serious about the issue and have been in the back, but are ready to come forward. Or are they not really concerned with big government at all, but just cannot stand the idea the commander and chief is not fitting the racial make up of previous president, so the issue of bigger government is now a huge problem?
I think if the man in yellow is a libertarian he falls into the former and if he's a birther he falls into the latter.
I certainly fall into the former rather than the latter, because I have been complaining since the early 1990's, but i have never seen this kind of support ever for a decrease in the size of government. Well, when i say this kind of support i mean people showing up to town halls with guns and what not etc.
