I am certain that more of that bill was written by the medical experts from the White House than by anybody in the House. Lobbyists and Obama's people from the White House wrote it.

A big problem with the "Obama Health Plan" (I hate that name, it's a number of bills written by CONGRESS not Obama) is that there isn't a SOLID plan.
Robert Reich: How to Fight Healthcare Fearmongers and Demagogues
Quote:
Mainly because there's still no healthcare plan. All we have are some initial markups from several congressional committees, which differ from one another in significant ways. The White House's is waiting to see what emerges from the House and Senate before insisting on what it wants, maybe in conference committee.
But that's the problem: It's always easier to stir up fear and anger against something that's amorphous than to stir up enthusiasm for it.

Obama: "All I'm saying is let's take the example of something like diabetes, one of --- a disease that's skyrocketing, partly because of obesity, partly because it's not treated as effectively as it could be. Right now if we paid a family -- if a family care physician works with his or her patient to help them lose weight, modify diet, monitors whether they're taking their medications in a timely fashion, they might get reimbursed a pittance. But if that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that's $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 -- immediately the surgeon is reimbursed. Well, why not make sure that we're also reimbursing the care that prevents the amputation, right? That will save us money."

You think this isn't true? It's 100% true.

Um, no... that's another one of Obama's lies.

We agree with the President that the best thing for patients with diabetes is to manage the disease proactively to avoid the bad consequences that can occur, including blindness, stroke, and amputation.

which is exactly what the quoted text from Obama says - we pay for reactive medicine (the amputation) when we don't put enough stress or resources on the proactive things to prevent it.

You left off the part of the quote on which Obama had to be corrected. It wasn't the first time Obama tried to pull off a lie like that, either.
I suggest YOU read the link:
Quote:
"The President's remarks are truly alarming and run the risk of damaging the all-important trust between surgeons and their patients.
We assume that the President made these mistakes unintentionally, but we would urge him to have his facts correct before making another inflammatory and incorrect statement about surgeons and surgical care."
|
The ACS was quite gracious and kind to suggest that Obama unintentionally spread misinformation, again. At best, this shows Obama to be an ignorant buffoon. Given the fact that this isn't the first time Obama has pulled a stunt like that lately, and he had already been called on it by professional organizations, it's far more likely that Obama is intentionally lying to scare people into supporting a government health care plan.
