Remember when the old saying "birds of a feather flock together", actually meant something?
Remember when "you are who you hang out with" used to mean something?
Only until Obama ran for for the White House did these lose their meaning. This cat has hung out with radicals, marxists, socialists, communist, black racists, and anarckists all of his life.....sat under the preaching of a racist nut job for 20 years!
But somehow he emerged from all of that, untainted!
Neither the Spartans or Plato used the word eugenics. The word eugenics was coined in 1883 by Francis Galton. It's just that Beck and the poster to which I was responding claimed that US and British socialists generated the IDEA of eugenics. That's just simply not true (the idea was not new, and socialists were not the ones to first re-popularize it under the new term eugenics).
Here's an interesting article on the history of modern eugenics.
"When it began, eugenics was embraced by conservatives and denounced by Engels. It is noteworthy that over time this ideology of arrogance proved to be appealing on the right (Galton), then the left (British Socialists), then the right (German National Socialists), then the left (American environmentalists and the abortion movement), then the right (see the Bell Curve debate)."
Engles is of course Friedrich Engles (who along with Marx is the father of communism) who riled against eugenics.
I'm sure some will question the motivations of this article, but it's from the American Bioethics Advisory Commission which is a division of the American Life Leauge - one of the largest right wing, pro-life organizations in the US. And unlike Beck's 0 references, the article has 35.
Glenn Beck is quite possibly the dumbest person in America.
Haven't watched Glenn Beck since I stayed with my grandma after her surgery a year ago...but I just have to quote the movie, "2 Weeks Notice".
"Now that's just silly. Have you every actually MET every person in America?"
You may think he's dumb, but I get e-mails nearly every week with someone who is nominated for the Darwin Awards. You may not agree with him, but surely you can appreciate his ability to make money to sit and talk to a television camera over someone who gets caught in a bank heist because he didn't know to PULL the door instead of PUSH it.
I don't watch shows like his because I get annoyed with people who think they know more about something than I do and get paid to tell me how much smarter they are. I feel the same way about Glenn Beck as I do about Ashley Judd pretending she gives a crap about what I as a female go through. The beauty of our country is that I can change the channel and not pay for the movie tickets. There are a lot of channels on cable and if you must have the tv on, surely you should know that you can watch something on HGTV during the Glenn Beck timeslot.
