Sorry I just realized how "snotty" most post could sound. It was not directed at you.

People look back at the 1976 vaccine but only see what they want to see. 25 people died from this disorder, which is an immune system over reaction but fully curable if people are given IVIG in time. In 1976 there were 40 million inoculations, so your risk was .000625%. At that point it did kill more then the swine flu, which this year has killed nearly 1,000...so this year it has killed 40x that 25. It's still less then the 35,000 per year killed by regular flu strains.

My only problem is I work at a hospital and I'm getting it if there is the opportunity, so if I get this disorder I'll be at work 24/7 for a bit...I'll be captive to my bosses!

Do you understand that influenza viruses mutate, which is why we need a new flu vaccine every year? Your comment that you'll wait 2-3 years makes no sense at all.
I should have been clearer about that - I meant other vaccines the doctors recommend, especially for the girls.

They have more than one strain of influenza vaccine every year. They are calculated guesses.

And for the past 2-3 years they've picked the wrong flu.
My husband contracted the flu about 3 or 4 times last year - after getting his flu shot.

I will definitely be getting the flu vaccine, I have been getting them ever since their inception and haven't had the flu since.

People have different reactions. I've only ever had the flu once and that was the one year I got the vaccine. Go figure....

How can you have long term testing for the flu? The virus mutates. H1N1 is a combination of bird flu and swine flu. I hope parents will not make the decision not to vaccinate without first consulting a health care professional.

If it does mutate then the vaccine you got would be for a different strain of flu.
