It is those conservative/moderate democrats in conservative districts that matter.
We all know the liberal kooks in the congress will vote party line, regardless of whether the bill is a crap sandwich.

You mean bribed Democrats; the so-called "Blue Shield" Democrats.
Like Fido Baucus, who is #4 in the race for Industry $$, or Spot Konrad who's also up there in bribes taken.
But enough of "debating" with the fringe, here's what's really going on:
After listening to all sides (meaningful sides) in this weekend's calamity, the following facts have emerged:
1. Nothing re: Public Option has changed. Obama, being the Corporatist he is, awaits the actions of Congress where every committee but Fido's has cleared the Bill WITH a Public Option, albeit a watered down one, but still a valid one, and NOT a industry sponsored "Health Care Cooperative" that won't do jack s*it as far as eliminating preexisting conditions or bringing down costs.
Granted, the corporate media would like us to think public option is out the window (and on that "hope" and hype the Health care Sector was the only sector up in today's Wall Street slide.), but it ain't so.
To the negative, however, "Nothing has changed." Obama still won't say that the Bill MUST contain a public option, something that 76% of Americans want, because he is Obama- the charlatan Corporatist who ran as a Progressive.
2. There is a move underfoot to downplay all this with Sibelius, Douglass, and the Admin Press Secretary, Gibbs. So don't believe a word they say, either good or bad.
3. The unanticipated spinoff of all this is a really POed Progressive wing, and since they are the ones who elected Obama, everyone who isn't floating in Industry bribes, like Spot and Fido, is taking notice:
Mark Weiner (D-NY) says any Bill without a public option will die in the House, as the Progressives will kill it.
Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) made a similiar threat in the Senate, though in all honesty, "The Millionaires Club" could still broker a deal between the Republicans and the bought.
4. Suddenly, Reconcilation (as a process where only 51 votes are needed) is not being discussed. And that is because the corporate media and the rented Democrats are the only ones the system will allow to speak on the mike.
But that's where we come in.............
5. Matt Taibbi (Rolling Stone), on Mattow, said that this "Will be an albatross around the neck of Democrats like the war was around the Republicans" if no real reform passes.
I'll go him one better than that:
It will end the end of the Democratic Party as we know it.
Pretty hi'falutin' stuff, but it has major ramifications beyond that:
The Republicans, despite the Dems problems, are not a resurgent party.
If the fragile (and conflicting) coalitions that hold the Dems together unravels, as it will sans public option, then we will be back to the 1992 election, as far as electorial politics is concerned.
Meaning a major third party, and a President by plurality.
Or, it could be worse:
Luckily we had FDR during the 30's Depression to give us political stability. Imagine if you will, the polar opposite of that:
A time of economic catacylsm, combined with the type on systemic instability we saw when LBJ was prevented from seeking a second term due to his Vietnam policy.
That could be the ultimate outcome of all this.
