Oh yea, a fake a temporary boost is really something good.

Use negative tax payers money to pay to get a false sale and then like everything else Obama has done, the dealers are NOT GETTING PAID for their clunkers.

Obama cannot even run that correctly.

Oh by the way, this cash for losers program is making Japan rich.

People are taking their junk and what are they mostly buying? Japanese cars is what!

Another stupid Obama move.

Why didnt he make sure the clunkers had to be used to buy AMERICAN cars?

Look it up, most people are buying Japanese made cars, not American made cars.

Way to go Obama, another screw up by you.

Oooh another humorous post from someone who doesnt know the difference between short term production and a long term recovery...

Increased production for people who cant afford cars = higher reposessions and higher taxes to pay for the program = a lower economy, not higher.

And lets not even discuss the stock market .9% increase today after yesterdays drop...

Sunshine Chick,

Those "Japanese" cars are made here in the U.S.A. by Americans. And the dealers will be paid.

Fart123,

The MONEY goes back to Japan.

How they going to be paid when we are in the hole trillions under Obama?
Print some more money or something?

I never heard of someone with no money paying out money.

We have no money and yet you think this is a good thing.

So Obama just shafted his own government run car company GM, they had 19.6% of the market before the failed clunker idea and now have only 17.6% share.

3 of the top 5 cars being bought by clunker people are Toyotas.

Not to smart at all.

Sunshine Chick,

We can't pass a law like this that would only go for american-owned cars. It's protectionism that would violate international law and start a trade war - one that we would lose.

They people with jobs at those plants here in America would disagree with your ranting. GM is not complaining about the clunker program. They love it.

if we couldn't pass a law that limited it to american cars only, we shouldn't have used american taxpayer money to fund it!

Yeah, they love it, until the program is over and they sell even less cars than they did before. Wait 6 months and there is going to be a huge influx of repo'd cars that'll hit the market and everyone who wanted to buy a new car wont be in the market when the program is over..

GM to boost output due to clunkers incentives

This is good news for Detroit...

This is good news for the UAW who get to continue fleecing America with heavily subsidized wages even after they destroyed the US auto industry.

Every penny the government borrowed to prop up this industry after the UAW destroyed it, to include Cash for Clunkers, will be repaid by us and our children with compounded interest.

Do you know the transplants that build vehicles in the South with non-union labor do so profitably? That means they actually pay taxes. Isn't that better than having our children's tax dollars subsidize the UAW?

Sure they do. We just robbed our kids to prop up the industry they distroyed.

Better yet, they ought to pass legislation that cars can only be called American-made if they have 100% of the components made in the U.S.A. instead of fifty per cent or so.

Of course, no one would ever be able to actually afford one if they did this.
