I disagree about the negative impact of Prop 13 on the current crisis in California. The state significantly overtaxes its citizens, which is one reason people have been leaving. If RE taxes are limited, the state is more than eager to overtax its residents in other ways.

When budget crisis arise, the cause tends to be more overspending as opposed to undertaxing.

Assuming they're allowed to see YouTube in their country and it's not blocked by their government.....countries where protesters often just disappear mysteriously and no one ever hears from them again.

Well, first of all, let me comment on the OP by saying that was a very unfortunate example of a very narrow minded individual whose hatred for others has once again clouded the issue at hand. People like this should just learn to stay in their holes. Don't come crawling out just to spew nonsense which will end up reflecting on the whole. It's just like anything else. It doesn't matter how many good people you have rallying to your cause, it only takes a few bad apples to make the whole bunch look rotten. I mean seriously, what could possibly be accomplished by yelling "Heil Hitler" at a Jewish man who is simply talking about his thoughts and feelings. There is no need to feel threatened by the opinion of one man, or a thousand men. Your feelings and convictions are yours no matter what others have to say, and they are just as entitled to feel how they feel as you are to feel how you feel. I hope this woman has been confronted by friends, family, or neighbors about this tape. Someone close to her needs to let her know just how ridiculous she made herself look and just how much her idiocy can affect others who are against the plan. (I wonder if this woman has ever been confronted with the actual atrocities of the Holocaust. If so, I would really have to wonder about her sanity. Because a person must be unstable to make a comment like this to a Jewish man.)

Now, on the subject of the quoted post. I hate to tell you, but I am completely against a government health insurance plan and I promise you, I am neither easily manipulated or unintelligent. I am simply opposed to a plan that forces an insurance mandate on every man, woman, and child in this country. I feel a person's health is one of the most personal issues you can deal with, and should be left in the hands of the people who care most about their own health. Namely, the individual citizens. I mean, I am sure we have a fair amount of idiots on our side. But people like this definately don't represent the whole group.

And to be frank, there are plenty of people in that lower intelligence bracket siding with the Dems on healthcare, though I am sure they also don't represent the entire group. Many, because they think they are going to get some "free" healthcare. Others, because they just blindly support anything the Obama administration does. And still others who seriously think people can't take care of themselves. They need the government to handle their affairs for them so they don't have to worry about it. Sorry, but I for one can govern myself and handle my own affairs. And I would prefer to keep the government out of as much of my business as possible. Something about more and more government involvement in life just pulls hard on my "freedom bone" you know. The more they have to do with my life, the more privacy and personal freedom I seem to lose. I am just not ready to let go of anymore.

PS. The "Freedom Bone" is located near your stomach. It's what causes that sinking feeling when you hear words like "more taxes" or "WMD's" or "healthcare reform"

Default Miz Pilger and Mr Blum

"Costs have escalated so much but it doesn't need to be taken over by the government," said health care reform opponent Pamela Pilger.

'A heated discussion was caught on tape after Eyewitness News interviewed Pilger. She shouted "Heil Hitler" to Samuel Blum, a Jewish man in favor of reform.
Town Hall Debate Gets Volatile - Las Vegas Now |

I dont see how this LV thing -- held in a casino it looks like -- could even be called a Town Hall mtg, no elected official was there (at least, who would come forward!) and it was sponsored by some right wing radio station.

Meet Pamela Pilger, the Crazy Lady Who Yelled 'Heil Hitler' at a Jewish Supporter of Health Care Reform - Gawker
"I don't care what they do with this health care bill. It will not pay for abortions. If somebody wants to go outand have wild sex, for the fun of it, then they can pay for the consequences. I'm not going to," said Pamela Pilger who was at the meeting and opposed the plan.

I don't even know what to say about this immature woman. WOW! There are some idiots out there
Unfortunately both these people are ignorant of the facts like most of the sheep that we see on the news etc.. The politicians and the media have the US right where they want them. They know that most people are lazy and won't make any effort to educate themselves on important matters like health care. If Americans would just read the bill when these questions about the bill come up we would be a lot better off.

You mean like what we have with car insurance? I have seen and heard many variations to the current bill. I think the bill that has the broadest support is the bill that would give persons the OPTION of purchasing public insurance, not mandatory.

I certainly would be opposed to the government forcing people to purchase private insurance.
