Welfare, social security same difference, you get the point. Either way I don't see why it's a bad idea to drug test those on "free money", and after bringing that up several times not one liberal has yet to object. As for taxes, maybe I should take my assault rifle up to N. Idaho and stop paying my taxes all together and wait for the feds to go Ruby Ridge on me.

problem is that the government is restricted due to the 4th ammendment in implementing drug testing. Government employees are much better protected from drug testing than private employees because their boss is also their government.. I am a liberal, and I don't have a problem with drug testing people, but who's going to end up paying for another branch of government that is doing the testing and keeping track of it all? WE the tax payers are..
I don't think because someone has a drug problem that we should withhold their welfare from them. I think that essential items can be provided (food, clothes, pay bills etc rather than a check) AS WELL as help in kicking the habit.... disgarding people from help because they've made a bad choice in life is not a society I would want to be a part of.... you and I have every right to be upset if someone is getting welfare and buying drugs with it, but we have to understand that its a problem that can be addressed. Suppose you do find out someone is a drug addict what do you propose? obviously no check... but then what? left to their own to figure it out? it has been my experience that people left by the way side as such turn to crime and other forms of behaviour.. its a downward spiral that continually comes back to us at a cost of tax money.. so why not address the issue properly the first time? saves money, lives, and heartache, not to meantion ill feelings such as yours towards paying for something and it not properly being used.
just a thought....

boise is about to build a detox and drug rehabilitation facility here.. I would hope that justinfromboise would not be one of the many conservatives against it. Money saved down the road by people having access to such services will far outweigh the cost of building and maintaining the dang thing... I believe its a step in the right direction... fact is.. people who have drug problems are family and friends to many.. they are people... with a problem.. for the best interest of our communities we have to get down in the trenches and address the issue in the best possible way... and distance ourselves from punishment and ridicule... because that is god's job.. not ours.... we're suppose to help one another.. even if it is at a cost.... if that's being too liberal.. then I'm sorry...

Wal-mart (At least one if not more)

Wow, I guess I should change political parties based on your assessment.
I didn't know that people that walk/bike, drink Starbucks, shop high end, and wear fashionable shoes were liberal. I am really enlightened and think I had better switch my political affiliation!

Please add the following to conservative cities
No Art Museums, Performance Halls or anything that resembles "liberal culture"
No Homeless people as conservatives put them in jail
Plenty of Boy Scouts
Multiple YMCA Family Locations with Long Lists of Rules & Regulations
Anything that promotes Guns, i.e. Gun Shows, Gun Shops, Bass Pro Shops
Churches on every corner, mostly in the South
Multiple locations of Chick Fil A, a conservatives' delicacy
Few Gay people. They have either been beaten up or left long ago.

I am tired, but this list woke up me.
Taos, one of the liberal meccas of the West, has poor roads, many unpaved roads, lots of Catholic Churches, one ugly Wal-mart, few high end stores, but NO or few flags, nothing pro-Bush signs or otherwise,
NO Starbucks,
but people drive, and don't walk because of a lack of sidewalks
and as outdoor activities are important, not many fashion stores.

I did meet one homeless person in Taos, and I shared my lunch, but we had more art museums than most towns its size, no YMCAs, many guns, many churches, all old, and on the registry, and lots and lots of gay people.

The great thing about the internet, it entertains and informs folks. Now you have a new view of political philosophies! Of course, out here in California the road generally stink, so I guess we are conservative. However, we have Starbucks on practically every corner, so I guess we are liberally conservative.
