Warn her Colorado Springs certainly has a highly liberal view of the mountains to the west, especially Pikes Peak.

If it was true that being conservative was a good political policy, then conservative states would be a lot better places to live in than they are now.
One of the most amazing things about liberal states over the religious conservative states is that they seem to take Christian principles like the Ten Commandments more seriously. And so in liberal states the murder rate is lower, as well as theft. The divorce rate is lower. For instance, Massachusetts has one of the nation's lowest divorce rates. Unwed teen births are also lower in liberal states. This is why no way do I want to become a conservative. It would be too great of a shame.

well, I moved to idaho from seattle, and I pay much more income tax here in idaho vs. washington... but my sales tax was higher(that I can control if I wish to be conservative).. so technically I get more of my pay check taken away here in idaho vs. seattle... its a matter of how you live and where you live.. each place has its own culture. Just because a place votes democratic doesn't make it liberal you know... and just because a place votes republican doesn't make it conservative either....there's much more involved when pigeonholing anything liberal or conservative... but it is fair to say the northeast and northwest are very liberal and many islands of conservatives exist throughout the midwest and south... but the majority of the country is pretty moderate.... perhaps they are the ones that suffer.. the old saying.. stand for nothing, fall for anything... its not a matter of something is better than the other in general, its a matter of what an individual desires... and what is attracted to each... Idaho is near the bottom of the list when it comes to college educated people.. while our neighbour washington is number one on the list...

Johnny Crackpipe? He's another one of the fairy tale characters that right-wingers invent in trying to explain and justify their silly social policy ideas. Sort of like Welfare Queen or Prom Dress Girl. These are actually popular icons of faith among a certain sort...

How could I be so foolish to believe the right wing conspiracy that there are drug addicts on welfare? You're right everyone on welfare is simply "Down on their luck." The only place drug testing should occur is the welfare line.

Our mayor is a leader in the local church, and is elected every time based on that religiousity. Our radio dial has 8 religious stations. There aren't any so-called "Progressive churches" in this town. There is one Catholic church thats about as progressive as you are going to find. Most of the population is some shade of Baptist or Pentacostal/Assembly of God. You would be lucky to make it out alive here if you were gay. Our town was the #5 city for job loss in the nation in 2006, yet the citizens refuse to accept any alternative means to bring jobs to the town because it might bring sin into the town. The mayor organizes HUGE events to protest development. Back in the 90s, the city would not let IBM build a plant in Ft. Smith, which would have given the region MUCH NEEDED high-tech jobs, because of their sexual orientation non-discrimnation policy. Hooters was protested when they tried to come into town. We have 6 Wal-Mart Supercenters yet citizens complain and file lawsuit when Target wants to come into town and give them some competition. We have an extremely high sales tax, at 9.25%. I could go on and on.

Yikes! This sounds extremely scary! It's like "Welcome to the Dark Ages..." I've been through Ft. Smith and it's a very pretty town but I didn't know what was lying underneath it all.
