This guy thinks everyone should be able to carry weapons into a room where the president is speaking. (Representatives, Congress)

There is actually no need for the POTUS to ever be in public...that should keep him safe and sound.
And you are correct, you cannot keep him safe no matter what,so how is restricting rights going to help?
How about the President's right to be in public?
Rights are restricted by the need for safety and security. That's why you can't yell fire in a theater. That's why the police can search you before entering a building. If you have to see the President in person, you need to weigh the fact that you may not be allowed to have your gun in close proximity.
There are two ways to look at protecting the POTUS.
We can either restrict what or who can be around him.
Or we can simply protect him.
Clear bullet proof shields are available, this would allow the adoring throngs to view him clearly(we could even make them magnifying so he looks bigger) and still provide protection.
Instead of falling back to the position of restricting peoples rights, why not instead look to providing better protection?

I think restricting guns in his presence is part of protecting him. I'm not okay with having him behind the glass and saying it's okay to bring a gun to the event. There are too many people willing to take a shot at the President of the U.S.
What do you think about guns on airplanes? Should restricting those for security be done or should we just take other measures to protect ourselves?

Grow up, must every post of yours have some prodding insult? You lose credibility when you do that. Now, the president should NOT be restricted from being in the public eye. He is the president, he is elected to be the voice of the american citizens, not locked up like some mole in a bunker. He has bullet-proof shields around him at certain events....did you not notice his acceptance speech on election night? Restricting guns at a political rally is for all intent & purposes, for the security of the president. Yes, I'm sorry, the president SHOULD be protected from crazies such as....well you know. And this goes for EVERY president. There's something wrong if you think that considering the president's safety is of utmost concern is worshipping or idolizing. It's also for the safety of the public that is attending that event. Apparently, you not only could give a rats ass about the president, any president I might add, but also about your fellow citizens. I feel much safer knowing the secret service is there instead of some hack gun toting loon babbling on & on about his rights to carry his piece like in the wild wild west days.
Notice the glass behind them...have a guess what it is...
