What creative ways would you offer the government pay for Health-Care???

1. Legalize and Tax Pot/Cocaine/etc and any other drug (except LSD/Acid) certain drugs rightly deserve to be illegal

2. Tax unhealthy behavior (cigarettes and alcohol significantly)

3. Get rid of Social Security (Personally, i want it to end, but given the choice of UHC and a government annuity plan, I'd gladly see the annuity plan go to the wayside)

4. Just for bonus remove crop subsidies ( and let some of those farmers grow pot)

5. Release non-violent prisoners that are in jail for selling or doing pot (would knock our prison population down from 1.5 to just under 300k)

What creative ways would you do it?

I can't speak in detail since I don't have any info but it does seem to me that providing health care to everyone could be partially paid for by eliminating many of the social programs currently being funded. Let the charities, churchs and individuals deal with personal and/or private issues and let the government deal with things that benefit the country as a whole.

Too complex to explain right now but it would be a progressive income tax supplemented with excise taxes and tariffs.

Instead of just gifting free health care to all illegals, charge them an entrance fee like Costa Rica does. I think for $10,000 you can become a citizen and opt to take the government plan or pay more for the private plan. Why should the USA provide free anything to non citizens? Why should the taxpayers include them and pay for their care?
Tax booze and the porn industry.
Provide the citizens of the USA catastrophic help only, no "boo boo's and bandaids care."

Encourage cost and quality efficiency in the health care system:

Starting by not building any more general hospitals--hospitals should be for emergency and intensive care only. Acute care, surgery, L&D, and other procedures can be done by stand-alone specialty clinics who do only those procedures. You can ensure cost efficiency and quality this way.

Second, eliminate fee for service-type pricing systems for medical care. Bundle common services (anesthesia, radiology, tests, medications, etc) related to certain procedures for a single price.

Third, encourage new, patient-centered technologies like home dialysis, remote electronic monitoring, etc. Let the patient do as much as possible for themselves in treatment and recovery at home, with assistance from trained home health professionals and telemedicine.

Fourth: Move forward ASAP with the Electronic Patient Record. Countless dollars and hours can be saved if every patient carries with them a swipe card with all their data on allergies, screening results, medical history, etc. that can be accessed in any medical setting 24/7.

Just to clarify exactly what you mean, can you post something further explaining what you mean?

Would the progressive tax go higher than 500k and maybe top off at 300 Million or something?

Tariffs - wouldn't that hurt our trade deficit or seriously anger our main trading partner China?

Wow OP, it sure sounds like all you want is pot to be legal.

The "do rock" element of your user name is curious as well.

Why not get the money in more conventional ways, like by printing it or raising taxes?

Obama has to pay $20 for every "uh" and "um" that comes out of his mouth.

For every political message board/forum/comment section, there is a $.02 charge per post.
