Still did not answer the question. If the department of corrections did not notify the social security office, HOW were they suppose to know, NOT to cut a check for someone who is in their system as ELIGIBLE for a CHECK?
This is just another example why we should abolish Socialist InSecurity.
While waiting, we should volunteer to leave it.
You do know that it is 100% voluntary, don't you?
There is no law compelling Americans to enroll, nor punishing Americans who do not participate.
Don't believe me - write a polite letter to your Congresscritter and the SocSec Administrator's office in Baltimore, MD.
Ask: What law requires all Americans to enroll?
What law punishes any Americans who do not?
My congresscritters won't answer.
The form letter from SocSec (paraphrased): The sole legal reason for enrolling is to participate in the entitlement program.
If you no longer participate, you no longer owe SocSec taxes... they're voluntary, too.
Maybe that's why Congress won't answer my questions!

The SS office is in a network that has information on people in prison. I know it is alot to expect a govt agency, but one click of a mouse would tell them if someone is imprisoned.
