The financial crisis began with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the large housing companies that were taken over by the government, and subsequent to that a number of very large financial firms came under enormous pressure. One of them, Lehman Brothers, an investment bank, failed. Others came close to failure, needed government support, not just in the United States, but around the world. And those were some very long nights I spent on the sofa in my office as we worked to try to keep the financial system running."

"The government-chartered mortgage-finance companies, which were seized by regulators in September 2008 and since have used $85.7 billion of their capital lifelines, face mounting losses that will mean "it could take a decade or longer" before they are able to emerge from U.S. control as "viable standalone entities," the New York-based ratings company said in a report."

Fear that he might not act in accordance with the rather clear preferences of the voters prompted the switch to special election. In 2009, no one insists that a special election should not be held. It is merely suggested that a power of interim appointment be given to the Governor so that Massachusetts voters will not lose their Senate representation in the time it will take to schedule and run a special election.
So we change the rules as we go to ensure we get it our own way everytime?
Only democrats are honest enough to abide by the voters wishes?
Hmmm I could be wrong but most people were against a pay raise for the elected reps. What happened to the concern?
The voters did not want rich CEO's to get a bonus and yet legeslation was written and approved by the democratic majority. What happened to the concern?
Most Americans want laws passed to stop outsoursing. And still we wait.
Most americans want our borders secure. And still we wait.
Where is the concern to honor the wishes of the voters?
I see that only applies when it benefits the party..
No different than a Republican majority.
No sag I don't buy it. What I see is clear cut manipulation.

Exactly. I mean how many times do you change a law to suit one mans agenda before it becomes obvious that it is simply to ensure one party maintains control.
Let the voters speak... That is the American way.

I would love to see Barney Frank become a Senator, but I haven't seen him on any lists of likely candidates. He did express interest back in 2004 when Kerry ran for President. If Kerry had won, Frank planned to go for Kerry's Senate seat. But alas, it did not come to pass. (Hey - that rhymed. )

Barney Frank for Senator! Only a gay man who doesn't take crap from the whacko right wing would send them into a frenzy! He has more balls than Larry Craig could fit into his mouth in a Minneapolis airport bathroom!
