Seriously, though...last time I heard the starlets in the movies we see do pretty well...I am talking about your Jenna Jameson and Briana Banks types.

I think plenty of people care. But there isn't a necessary link between porn and human trafficking and other organized crime, just as there has never been a necessary link between smoking a joint and Central American death squads. That links do indeed exist is in some sense fallout from the regimes that society has been talked into creating vis-a-vis porn and marijuana. If either were to be decriminalized and/or regulated and taxed, there might be a better chance of isolating and reducing these side effects, something that nearly all porn and pot consumers would favor.

I have not watched porn in over a year. (sex scenes in movies don't count as porn, in my view)

Do you think pornography should be reduced and eliminated from the internet or is it protected by free speech? Should the US government have any involvemnt at all in the restriction of this industry? Is porn degrading to certain groups, does it objectify and contribute to rapes or sexual assults?
|
Protected free speech.
The government should have NO involvement in the restriction of this media. The only thing the gov't should do is protect the rights and liberties of the people and that is one thing they are not doing. If you believe that the government should change the way people live their lives then we might as well make mandatory dieting for overweight people, banning smoking, banning alcohol and so on. Do you want to live in a society where the government tells you everything about how to live your life? I don't. You want to know why? Because that kind of government is called a dictatorship.
Porn is not degrading to any groups since all the people who are involved are consensual. If you think it is degrading than don't watch it. It doesn't increase rape or sexual assaults. There will always be criminals out there who prey on the weak.

I believe Child Porn and Porn that shows anything violent, such as rape or locking someone up or beating someone, torturing someone should NOT be allowed.
BUT garden variety porn, even group sex... go for it.
Personally, I wouldn't become involved with a man who indulged in porn. There is something slightly sick and furtive about a man sitting at a computer getting his jollies rather then getting a real woman to make love to...but thats just me.

Most man get their jollies from porn because they have no woman to make love to. Don't be so hard on us. It's the women's fault really. You make it so hard for us to find and make love to you. Men have no choice but to resort to porn for their sexual need. Without this outlet men would go nuts. Crimes would go up through the roof. Society would break down. If you think about it, porn really saves the day.

You just eliminated 90% of men from your list of potential mates. And that 10% that's left, they're just creepy.

Unbelievably sad outlook on life. I can see you are the type of person who blames others for your weaknesses. Have you ever heard to self control?

I think davidt1's post was more tongue in cheek than completely serious.
