The organized crime connections seem to be supported by mostly anecdotal evidence where systematic investigation has had inconclusive results in the U.S. The also would beg the question if it is simply organized crime and criminal involvement that makes porn reprehensible then pursuits such as gambling, major motion pictures, shopping at Wal-Mart, buying certain products, tobacco, alcohol and the like should be done away with in your stance as well. It is akin to the wild accusations of neo-cons talking about supporting terrorism by buying a product which may have some ties somewhere to a company or country which is friendly to those who support such actions.
The other links go on about the global human trafficking with which the reliable sources cited make pretty much no mention of the United States adult film industry and human trafficking - which, if you had read what I posted is what I'm talking about. You seem to have it in your head that I deny this happens anywhere or at all - that's not what I said.
This goes into a broader scope in that we also play a part in contributing to the reprehensible aspects of any industry by placing moral, legal and other stigma upon it culturally. But that is another discussion much like the porn attributing to sex addiction and deviance tripe.
You don't like porn because you think it has nothing but forced sex slaves - come down to Texas, I'll introduce you to some of my happy, well-adjusted friends who just happen to be adult entertainers - none were forced, none were molested as children (most actually grew up in pseudo-Christian household which most would view as "morally upstanding") and they do the work because they want to.
Understand my stance: Not all porn is controlled by the mob or is the product of human slavery - much is done in good taste, with willing and well paid actors/actresses and is not in support of some crime network. Take it how you want.
I'm done with this topic.

I never said all porn was run by organised crime or had only sex slaves. I said it is an issue which should be addressed.

I think we should stay involved in the war on pornography until we win the war--or until we can introduce democracy, at least....

One thing Ted Bundy was a master of was sensing exactly what people wanted to hear...and telling it to them, with a maximum appearance of sincerity.

My girlfriend doesn't participate in these internet groups, but she got a chuckle from this thread, especially the man-woman dichotomy regarding who is more prone to consume pornography.
She was a little put off when I brought the thread to her attention, because she had just finished a Danielle Steele novel and was excited to get started on the latest from Jackie Collins.

This Ted Bundy/Pornography issue reminds me of people who are also scared of satanists who kidnap children for ritual sacrifices. It was all baseless propaganda in the 1980s. The has never been a shred of scientific evidence to prove the existence of these cults, yet some people would swear on their lives that they exist. There's no evidence that pornography causes anyone to become a serial killer, or even a rapist, either.

Masturbation has health benefit for men
BBC NEWS | Health | Masturbation 'cuts cancer risk'
Keeping it bottled up inside is far more harmful.
LA Archdiocese will seek to settle 500 sex abuse cases. The accused never watched porn. Perhaps they should have. A Jenna flick and some hand release might have actually prevented the abuses.

There's no war on porn. The amount of money spent on porn in the US alone is staggering. Most estimates are something like ten billion dollars a year. As in any industry, as far as any criminal fringe element evolved, that's what laws are for and they should be enforced.
But most recent studies have indicated that it's the females in society that are now purchasing most of the porn on-line. They have an interest in it, and they enjoy being able to buy it on-line and not have to get it from some pimply faced retail clerk snickering at them. Plus women are the ones making the real money in porn. I don't think we should infringe on the rights of women by declaring a war on pornography.

Is the war on porn like the war on drugs? If it is, I think we lost it a long time ago!! I agree with Hawkeye that if women are buying most of the porn and participating in it, we shouldn't infringe on their rights.
