It is addictive to the viewer/consumer, just like any opiate. It is degrading to the performers, desensitizing to everyone, and has no redeeming value whatsoever.
For all the hysterical crusading about the eeee-vils of tobacco, I'm appalled that there isn't at least as much effort placed on eliminating porn entirely from American society.

I disagree. Eliminating pornography would be an unnecessary attack on our first amendment. I understand you have to draw the line somewhere. Laws are needed to regulate it. But if porn bothers someone they don't have to look at it. Outlawing porn would be tantamount to regulating morality. Which is wrong. People are simply going to have different moral standards. What offends one person might be normal and standard for the next person. Government should be able to regulate it, but within certain guidelines the government should have no business interfering in what someone looks at for entertainment simply because it may offend someone elses morals.

I support the war on porn... By buying all the dirty DVDs I can find so that I can keep them out of the hands of the innocent children!
People need to mind their own business. If someone wants to pay for porn, who are you to say they can't? This babble about addiction and psychological affects is nonsense. Sure you can get addicted to porn. You can also get addicted to working out. Are we to ban working out now because it has destroyed so many lives?

Make sure to save some for me!
Alright, my two cents on this dumb war. Do we really need war against every stupid thing that somebody doesn't agree with? And against porn?!
Um, let's see. I see pornography as a legitimate business that brings in profit. Hey, if some woman wants to become a performing artist with a performing man and people want to pay to watch, then so be it.
Religion has no place in whether something should be illegal or not. This is why our founding fathers made a separation of church and state agreement. They foresaw the idiocracy of the "against god" argument to make something illegal.
Oh, and the first thing I said when I saw this thread was "The internet is really really great...." - if you don't know what I'm talking about, google search it. Make sure to add either Kate Monster to the search or Avenue Q.

Then don't watch it. Problem solved. See how easy that was? Praise Jesus.

I agree with that notion, and there have been a few studies about relationships.. and they are finding that gay relationships are better at communicating on a sexual level....and that has a huge effect on better communication in other area's. they are finding that many straight couples have lots of walls up and things go unspoken... where in gay relationships its all out on the table more...there isn't as much fear of rejection.. or misunderstanding because both people are of the same sex and can understand each other's position and desires better.

I'm totally against Porn, as a women i wud not like to marry a person who indulges in pornography. I myself don't indulge in & it i wud not like my children to indulge in it either in future. It takes you away from the God. It results in craving for more which can lead to henious crimes like Rape, child molestation. We should see, talk, listen to things which we can do if God was sitting besides us. "Lust is dust"-Quoted by Cyrus Merchant- India

i dont have a high opinion of porno but its not high on my list of evils.
probably far more concerned about violent crime.
i do find a relentless attempt to neuter the young ameican male.
sleazy female behavior is pretty much ignored, i think this neuter program
has a lot of focus, the question is why.
remember those 250 people that got killed in a plane by 3 guys with box cutters, 911?
50 years ago that would have never happened.
