Pornography doesn't rape/molest/kill/objectify people, people do.

As long as those individuals featured in pornographic products are consenting adults, I have no problem with it. Guns and pornography: the American way.

Au contraire! As far as I'm concerned when someone is proposing censorship, banning wine, beer, casinos, and who knows what else that is very Taliban like thinking.

And if wine with supper was good enough for Jesus it's good enough for me.

How funny that you used "au contraire." I actually was going to but thought it would be "cut" for not writing English as it's one of the rules.

I have an extreme aversion to alcohol since my dad was an alcoholic and therefore, I can't stand to be around anyone that drinks. Hence, this is from which my comment arose. I know, it's my problem and it truly is.

As far as gambling, I just feel badly for people who are addicted to it. Well, not so much for the gambler's addiction but the family that may suffer.

Pornography is hurting the youth of today because it's so freely accessed on the internet, and I'm afraid many parents are clueless to it or just don't give a hoot. It isn't for me, but if adults want to divulge in it, so be it. Let's just protect our kids; they'll be indoctrinated soon enough.

The comment by another poster, ~~ Also, don't forget porn is one of the BIGGEST and most profitable businesses in America. You kill porn and you kill a vital portion of our nation's riches. ~~ is very disheartening to me. If this is one way America is getting rich, I trust our nation is in more trouble than I imagined.

Anyway, I should never have read this thread as I cannot accept so many things that hurt children and/or families in general. It just disgusts me, but I don't expect anyone to understand my feelings on the subject.

So there you have it...

I know this may sound harsh and that's not my intent but proposing a ban on alcohol because alcoholics exist is neither fair to those who may enjoy a drink nor is it a realistic solution to alcoholism.

And how does one define pornography? It differs greatly among different groups. Personally I find car bombs going off in Baghdad every day killing innocent people more obscene than naked people and I find it troubling that there's a bigger outcry about Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl than there is about the poor treatment returning combat wounded have received.

And nobody advocates children be given access, maybe it's really the 'clueless' parents that truly create the problem.

Default Get real

My guy is addicted to porn. He is addicted to the thought that all these young girls are ready to roll with any one. Maybe even him!

Look. Porn can fixate a person through the pleasure center of the brain. Variety, availability and whatever guilty fantasy one has is reinforced through brain chemicals. Being rewarded by sexual gradification is secondary only to meth. Anyone remember how addictive that is?

What is a wife or lover when a person's pleasure center only needs the drug? When one's guy prefers the ease and pleasure of his hand and relations actually fail in real life? When does it become a problem? When it interfers with one's life and relationships. I can't compete with porn, 18 yos, hot youth doing it all. I am just a 45 yo woman in a 1 year old relationship gone scary. Those that are unsatisfied or needing the fix of porn will succumb. Most will try to make it real. Rough sex with their partner, porn positions that are only worth doing for lots of money or they will look outside the relationship.

I have come to despise cable TV, sex and nudity in film and most of all the internet. Tell me, where are the young, hot men shown for woman? The movies are all dumpy guys with hot, young girls, or worst of all, old men with young girls. Big money alright! Leading to cosmetic surgery, age creams, eyelash extensions, boob jobs and NOW, revirgining! Oh, yeah. Divorce, children of divorce, eating disorders....

So taking away habeus corpus, eliminating dissent, and stealing elections is also Taliban-like thinking? Extremism in response to extremism is still extremism.

Pornography by itself is not a problem. But when you have a population that has been taught that sex is bad and naked bodies are taboo, you get the kind of pornography we have today: degrading, disrespectful, and extreme. It removes love from the whole equation, creating an empty and desperate addiction.

When love and sex get married (as I hope they soon do), pornography will be transformed from the exploitation it is now to a healthy appreciation for the human form.
