U.S. Department of Education Home Page"The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens."
Oh, yeah - that sounds awful ... hard work, take responsibility, best education, good jobs, rewarding and productive lives ... why in the world would we want to have our children hear any of that nonsense, eh?

Good Post! Thank you!
Hard Work, Goals, Responsibility ... Oh My!! Hard Work, Goals, Responsibility ... Oh My!! Hard Work, Goals, Responsibility ... Oh My!!
You know, this attitude of shielding kids' eyes from stuff like this just baffles me.
Sometimes there are lessons and presentations at my kid's school that I am unsure of.
Being the RADICAL that I am, do you know what I do? I GO TO THE SCHOOL and watch the presentation! That way, I know exactly what my kid has been exposed to - I know what topics to discuss at home, because I know what was said.
Most teachers and schools welcome parental involvement in the classroom. They would probably love to have you there! Provided, of course, that you can keep your paranoid spiteful comments about our country's leader to yourself!
I never liked George Bush. I never wanted him as president and I disagreed with a lot of things he did. But I would NEVER criticize him as a person to my kids. He was still the leader of our country and I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was doing the best job he could. Even if I didn't agree with him.
It was about teaching my kids about respect. The office deserves respect, even if you disagree with the person.
When kids in grade school are trashing Obama, repeating disrespectful and ridiculous things they've heard at home. Well, it's disgraceful. And if you're doing this to your kid, you should be ashamed.

so far mr. globalist does not seem to understand that the global economy isn't working that well for america.......
it is supposedly doing a bang up job for corporations, but not so much for the average american. if you consider the bailout, it isn't doing that well for corporations since wall street investment houses needed to be bailed out by the general public. (in other words, they had ZERO gain).

Someone please tell the village idiot the kids do not trust him either!
Obama does not do something for nothing, he wants something out of this but guess what? we are not going give him a chance to screw up the kids like he has the country.

I would love to see a link for details as Im calling the school about this tomorrow.
Something about this just seems strange.
Is there going to be anyone in the classroom to address things that might be questionable?

Parents contacting their school is a very good idea! Maybe they should ask whether they can sit in and audit the presentation -- perhaps watch in another room or the auditorium so that they can discuss at home what was said. Obama did urge parents to be involved with their kids' education and activities, did he not?

I wonder if the young students legs will tingle as Obama speaks?
He is so electrifying.

Funny ... I seem to remember a time, not so long ago, when critics of the president were called "unpatriotic".
My what selective standards some people have!

The horror Sounds suspiciously like he is advocating PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Now where did I hear that before...
Seriously, I am very glad he is doing this. If he reaches just one 'at risk' kid, it will be well worth his and their time.
